Nothing. they are just for exp grinding only.

It doesn't make actual items, but gives you decent xp. The xp given scales to your Smithing level.

All Protean is for is XP. Not just bars. Protean traps, hide etc as well. Just pure XP.

Protean items give xp scaling by level. The item is destroyed on use.
