The game is dead move on PPL
The statistics of online numbers are missleading, because 90% of that ~140k online are playing Old RS, not the RS3. The only reason why they use combined statistics is pretty much to convince new players that RS3 is popular... Which is not, ~10k online at best through all ~40 worlds or so...
There are bots here and there. Sometimes I can see waves of them doing stuff such as runecrafting, or mining.
Main forum of RS is dead and they even turned off any way to post new threads, Reddit is under heavy modding, which includes deleting all topics about bots/buggs/balance issues.

I wouldn`t be writing here if I wouldn`t be pissed of how nerfed some things became for F2P users. Crafting for example is pretty much non possible to raise in higher levels, because Gold/Silver crafting is no go for F2P, they actually made it viable only for members to craft rings or any other jewelry. So F2P only can enjoy clay crafting and cow hides. They also removed clay rocks and left only two spots for clay mining at lower lvls and all of those are quite far fro bank.
The new fighting mechanics are flashy, but lame. The balance is no more.. Example, lvl 4 Cow gives you 34 exp, while lvl 30 Hobgoblin gives you 65 exp. You can 1 shot cow with ~30lvl archery, but you spend ~15-20 shots on hobgoblin and you get only twice more exp.. By the time you kill one hobgoblin and get 65exp you can kill 10-15 cows and get nearly 10x more exp... Tested this with more mobs too, same issue. Just 0 idea on how balance should work..

The money inflation is another topic. Two days in the game, I managed to come across a guy who casually gave me 30M so I would buy bond and become member. I mean I am not even mad, but I asked him how come he give money like that out of thin air, he said that in member worlds its possible to make 10M in an hour with lvl 3 character, so this is not big deal. Now being F2P for example cutting trees its possible to make ~1M in an hour. So as F2P player you can make 30M in 30 hours gameplay, with that you can buy bond, that gives you membership for 2 weeks. So imagine the grind needed to get 2 weeks membership and imagine how member world effects the whole ecnomy, if you can make 10M in an hour there vs 1M in F2P

Looking further I do feel that they minimaized the F2P world map, since I can move faster in that area compared to Old RS.

Old RS is filled with bots on the other hand... I mean to the point where 8/10 players are bots...
No one is doing anything. Just keeping the silence in Reddit, or their official website, maybe even here, we will see if this topic will get deleted, but the reviews are pretty descent of this game for some reason... It is just a shell of what RS used to be, try it, but dont pay them money, because they dont do their jobs properly anymore...

First of all, they have not turned off ways to post new threads. You have to be logged in and then go to a forum subsection and you can post an appropriate thread there.

Free to play in RuneScape is basically a demo to get you hooked so you buy membership. The best way to earn money in free to play worlds is to work archaeology up to 20 and farm the materials to sell. They sell at 1500-2000 or higher and are very fast to farm, I know plenty of people, including some in the clan that I run, that have earned bonds through that. The game is not even close to dead, in fact it is growing with the launch on steam.

It is very misleading to say that the game is dead when all you have to do is go to the Grand Exchange in world 2 and you will see hundreds of players there trading. Go to world 84 at the lumbridge market, you will lag and maybe crash your client with how many players are there.

There are plenty of people in the game if you know where to look.

You actually suggest to farm Archeology in F2P?
The very same way I should probably pay the money for P2P just to do the quest, that would allow me to mine Gold/Silver properly, which then allow me to raise the crafting further than ~30 or so... Also only in P2P because crafting in F2P is no more, although the guild is accesable...

Making threads is the exact same way it's been for well over a decade.

Reddit is under heavy modding, which includes deleting all topics about bots/buggs/balance issues.

Botting has never been allowed to be discussed basically anywhere, same with bugs.

Clay was never a great way to level crafting. Crafting Gold and Silver to bars hasn't changed, same with crafting jewelery.

Hobgoblins are resistant to ranged since they're melee. Of course you're not going to hit a level 32 (Since there is no such thing as a level 30 hobgoblin) with 30 range accurately. Try actually comparing a monster that's weak to range to a low defense monster instead of using such obvious bad examples.

Looks to me you're the one who doesn't understand much about balance.

The money inflation is another topic. Two days in the game, I managed to come across a guy who casually gave me 30M so I would buy bond and become member. Earning money in Members requires large investments, 70+ in many different skills, if not higher, or bossing. A new player with little money and low stats is not going to be earning 10m an hour like you're suggesting.

Looking further I do feel that they minimaized the F2P world map, since I can move faster in that area compared to Old RS.

Fun fact: The F2P world is larger than it's ever been with being able to do skills to level 5, with new weapons and armor being available.

Old RS is filled with bots on the other hand... I mean to the point where 8/10 players are bots...

This game has always been flooded with bots. No different than before, just like the mods not allowing discussion about botting/bugs and the like.

Another day, another trashpost done by a clueless player. Nothing to see here folks.

Maybe you should spend less time writing posts about games you know nothing about and more time learning how to play the game you're whining about

You can start archaeology in free worlds. It actually goes up to level 20 in free to play, so stop whining and get farming.

I have over 10,000 hours in this game over 16 years, you know nothing. I made that post to try to help you out.

I'm not sure why people are responding to this. Best case scenario the OP is someone who used to play and then quit because of XYZ and now is just wanting to rant for the sake of ranting. Worst case scenario which I'm obliged to believe is he's a troll looking for a reaction. I'm pretty sure he posted a troll thread a few days ago which was taken down fairly quickly due to breaking steam community guidelines.

Correcting misinformation is important to do. Otherwise you have morons believing him because no-one said otherwise. Atleast in the latter you've got some people believing the factual statements vs morons like the OP spamming nonsense.

He's already failed as a "troll" since his positions cannot be defended with any kind of logic or reasoning. If anything, he sounds like an angry child who got scammed or PK'd and thinks the game is bad due to his own cluelessness.

At this point, he's got a number of people correcting his lack of basic understanding of the game and showing he doesn't have a clue what he's babbling about.

go back and play OSRS then
Lozamyth Dec 22, 2020 @ 9:13am
crafting to lvl 70 by mining and cutting gems is really easy and fast on f2p. knowing the game on the other hand, that appears to be hard.

havent been able to get on for a couple of month now, keep popping up the same notice about my firewall blah blah blah, even though i turned it off,

RS has the best steady growth right now than in 5 years. Its going good.

Imagine bashing a game for lack of players instead of enjoying both :weirdChamp:.

You feel wrong. I've been playing this game since long before OSRS was a thing. While RS3 has a massive problem with overworld crowding, especially in F2P areas (the area south of Falador in particular is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess), the F2P world has not got any smaller. If anything it's gotten bigger, since Burthorpe and Taverley are free-to-play areas in RS3.

agree.
besides the balance issues; the biggest problem this game has is the low tickrate and the lack of matchmaking for minigames.

they should go with the time and increase tickrate, but then they would need to patch 90% of their code... so they wont do it and let this game be dead on low-tickrate.

they should implement matchmaking, so that PVP and minigames would become a blast !

It has issues, but it isn’t dead. That’s just you loosing interest and expecting people to do the same.
