OSRS has a larger player count, but it's also botted to hell. RS3 has managed to reach all time lows on playercount in Runescape's history.

My recommendation? Don't waste your money on either with the state of both games, and with the fact that Jagex is just a faceless corporation owned by a bunch of suits that only care about your wallet, not about the quality or quantity of what's put out. You'll be paying an all time high on membership, and we effectively get very little, if any new content anymore.

it's a shame OSRS has the bigger community because RS3 is the better game

RS community is similar to WoW community. many find it hard to move on so they stick with the classics

Osrs was just a panic move to stop so many quitting after eoc came in, I bet jagex thought they could shut it down in a year or so after the fuss died down and they all came back to the main game
But it had a good effect and just grew and grew bringing back players who quit long before eoc, I played it for a while but once I got used to eoc after a few updates I couldn't play much of osrs again
It's fun for a short while to go back now but all the quality of life updates of rs3 draw you back pretty fast

As for players osrs has way more on the servers but as has been said before it really is a very high % of bots, but as long as the bots buy mems and pay for rs3 updates I'm fine with them infesting os
There must be bots on rs3 but I haven't seen any obvious ones for years

base take about bots. makes sense. at the end of the day, they help bring life to the game in terms of $$$

It’s harder to see, but you can see some in the anachronia agility course for example.

+1 ill be playing for awhile, as long as its free to play. If i hang around long enough and really get into it then maybe, just maybe might opt for a month script when there is any of the other game limiting factors that turn into road blocks. Think there both very similar to gameplay just maybe diff in the environments.

OSRS is all about grind
Rs3 is all about ways to alleviate the grind

Nothing wrong with either system it's just which you prefer

Neither game is worth playing in f2p for long but you have the advantage of never seeing the members content so you won't know what you're missing
Def worth your while to get high level in at least one combat in f2p asap as keeping a membership up with ingame currency is quite hard atm( this can change, depends on bonds prices) so if you did try membership you'll need to be killing a lot to pay for the bonds, skilling is not a great option for most to buy membership as jagex despise skillers and make every move they can to make sure they struggle to make a real profit
TBH you really need a years membership to give you time to build up levels and gp to have a chance of a self sustaining account
