How can I get in contact with my childhood runescape friend?
Back in 2008 I had a best friend on runescape and I remember his username. I recently returned to osrs and have been playing a lot. I was curious if my friend was still playing so I looked up his username in the rs3 and osrs leaderboards and wrote down his total xp. I just checked his total xp in rs3 a month later and it went up, so he's still active on rs3.

I don't know anything about the rs3 friend system as an osrs player. Is there any way I can make a rs3 account and log on to it every day to see if he's online and message him if he is?
Thanks

The friendslist is shared between OSRS and RS3, so you can add him. But if his private messages are set to friends only or off, he will show as offline, and you can't message him

Are you sure about that? What if a player in rs3 has the same username as a player in osrs? If you try to add them, which player would it add?

He also has an account in osrs with the same exact username, which is why I'm asking this, but he's not active on that account.

Can you still look someone up on the home site?, you used to be able to see someones quests/ levels what drops they recently had etc
Was just thinking they might be in a clan which would make it far easier to contact them if they do have in game chat set to friends only or private

Yes.
Account name and friends are shared between accounts. If you create an RS3 character on the same account, it will have the same ingame name.

They removed that feature on the English website, but it's still up on the German RS3 website under: Community -> Abenteuerer-Logbuch. Make sure to log in before checking.

Not sure about the French and Portuguese websites, though, if they still have it. You can change the website region at the bottom of the page.

edit:
nvm, It is still accesable through a link, just replace '*name' with the username, but like in the wikipage stated if the profile is set 'friends only' or 'private' it won't show

Thanks! I was able to use it to find their clan. Their clan is here. https://secure.runescape.com/m=clan-hiscores/members.ws?clanId=400968&ranking=-1&pageSize=45&pageNum=1

How could I use this to get in contact with my friend? Their username is redsunxx.

I added them to my friendlist over a month ago and have been playing like 10-12 hours a day, but I never saw them logged in so their private must be set to "friends only."

log in once now and ask anyone in the clan chat to pass the message on+your ign
just saves you logging in 40 times trying to find him
The odds are at least one person will be in clan chat even if it's not your friend

Edit most clans let you join as a guest but a few don't, I assume it's the same as on osrs

How do I log in to the clan chat? I just tried typing "sixth syndicate" into the clan chat on osrs, but it was too long to type in.

What I don't understand is, is their total xp is 2,726,882,264. They have more xp than any of their clanmates, but don't appear at the top of the clan page when I sort the clan by xp??

The accounts are linked. You can log into osrs and rs3 with the same accounte/membership and it will show what game you're on in the friendslist.
So its the exact same account, just two diffrent servers.

Hopefully someone can put you right on that, I'm not clued up on clans
I know on mainscape you go to social tab bottom right then select guest chat and type the clan name in, but things could have changed
I think you'll need to create a RS3 account though to do it, or ask anyone who plays rs3 to do it for you

Since "sixth syndicate" is too long for the osrs clan chat, I tried logging into rs3 to join the "sixth syndicate" clan chat, but it said I need a total level of 150. On osrs I also tried typing "BeerCurls" into the clan chat which is the clan owners name, but it said I wasn't a high enough rank to join that clan chat.

Can someone try to join this clan chat/get in contact with the clan on rs3? Thanks
