Now MTX on top of a subscription, that's a different story
(Also, if we're going to start retroactively calling all MMOs "live service" games I'm going to start biting people.)
Game's old, it has history and why things are like that.
Because historically demos have been a very effective way to get people in through the door, and getting people in through the door is by far the hardest part of making money off a subscription model.
That is if you pay the full price. Buy Premier Membership for $80 and get 12 months and a lot of other stuff.

Hi, I volunteer to be bitten.
Leave your name, address, and credit card information, and I'll get on it ASAP.
you use a1 steak sauce :D
So I'll probably make the transition into members soon and I have no problem spending a couple bucks to those who are giving me hundreds of hours of future gameplay, I think its only fair. After all they got to eat and support families too you know?
Plus go do some of the most daring stuff you can on F2P, kill the KBD, hunt the Chaos Element, or PVP. The highest risk usually lets out the most dopamine :)
