Honestly, I just want to play the damn game and after nearly 15 years, it's becoming damn near impossible to do so reliably and consistently.
On Linux also with a 6600 XT, I used to have random crashes kind of frequently. I just chalked it up to some Linux oddity. I haven't had a random crash in Linux for weeks now though.
Basically, it's likely graphics-related. I'd do all the usual stuff like making sure drivers are up-to-date, make sure your overclocks are stable, and clear shader caches (GPU-side and delete ShaderManager.jcache and ObjCache.jcache from RS3's folder). If using AMD graphics, downgrade to 22.5.1 or older (I recommend 22.2.3 for any kind of video encoding). In RS3's settings, sit in lobby and toggle Textures from Compressed to Uncompressed; even if you download all the Uncompressed data and never switched to Compressed, Compressed still downloads data; make sure data is fully downloaded for both.
I just decided to try this game today since so much history. The status in Steam says I have played for 3.7 hours so far in the tutorial area. I may have been logged in total for that time, but lucky if I stay in for more that 3 minutes at a time before it just fully closes. I walk over to a pile of ore start mining and it closes. So lame.
