First time playing runescape need help with backpack

Call me a noob, but it says that I need to left click my backpack to equip my sword, but I don't see anywhere on the screen or my character that resembles a backpack to open. Everything I click does nothing. What am I supposed to do?

Get ready for a massive learning curve. Even after putting in thousands of hours I feel like I am just now understanding how to wrestle with the UI lol. You can customize it SO MUCH. But it's easy to accidentally minimize something or remove something and you have to add it back. Pretty annoying. It could be a lot better.

As long as you are locking your interface and action bar there is literally no way to accidentally remove it unless you intentionally unlock and remove it manually.

There's a hotkey (I think it's L) that'll lock your interface so you can't change or move it at all until you unlock it.
