Sounds like you might want to also check your computer for malware and change other passwords after you do that.
still trying to find a fix the problem
By fixing the problem do you mean getting back the lost items you mean? The jagex website says it wont help with any lost items so i stopped looking for solutions tbh. Oh and how everyone asking for help on forums get pestered for not taking additional security steps, i have few things to say about it but nah.
Hope you can figure out your solution though
but i just added an Authenticator on my account like the guy who replied first advised & changed the Password again just to be safe. & try what i did instead of just using one language try combining 2 or more Languages/Dialects that you are very familiar with to make the "passphrase" even harder
still thought i hope they allow us to use characters that are not just A-Z & 1-9 having special characters like "@ !? ñ & etc" helps alot in making harder to break passwords
if that still fails though it maybe i sign that i'll just have to stop playing RS
passwords arent even checked for capitalization so i highly doubt it, its because the game still runs on the original 32 bit engine
Wot? Show me a single iota of solid proof that this happens, the most they do is CHANGE THE NAME of ancient accounts to random letters and numbers to make the names available again, and less of this "autist" crap, it's uncalled for, offensive and really speaks to your character.
One Jagex employee did that to accounts that were not inactive and was fired for it
Luckily the last massive one got caught and the guy got his goods back
although no one believed him at first that it had even happened
""A couple of months ago, an Old School Runescape player who goes by mazrim_lol on Reddit claimed that a "serious data breach" had caused him to lose 45 billion coins on his main account. His claims were dismissed by a number of other players, several of whom suggested that it was his own fault for not having the account properly secured, or that he might be lying about it completely. But it came to light today that he wasn't lying, and that he was correct about the data breach, which was actually an inside job at Jagex. ""

I doubt anyone will ever know the true figures stolen and sold to gold sites
This is the best bit lol, didn't know about it only just seen it

""A Jagex employee was fired in 2018 after an internal investigation concluded he had been abusing his position as an Old School Runescape moderator to steal gold and items from players. However, a Cambridge Employment Tribunal ruled that he was unfairly dismissed.""
Oh I knew about both of these incidents (localised incidents) but for the guy to say that "Jagex sells accounts" like its just a normal thing they do is a much broader statement than 2 instances where both men were fired for being greedy fools.
