I quit this game if you get hacked jagex plays it off like its not a big deal and wont do anything for you. jagex doesnt care about the players they only care about the money and not hardly working.

theres so many safety protocols ingame right now its almost impossible to get haxed. your the one at fault for not having all the protections. that or you have a virus on your computer by doing something stupid online

hell, i have been playing since 04 (just after runecrafting came out) and have never been haxed

i actually DID give my password to one of the fake "quitting runescape" streams on twitch when that was a brand new method of phishing

their bot must have been slow, because i was able to quickly realize my mistake and change my password. account completely intact

if i can metaphorically dance with death like this, and still own my account, then you must be REAL stupid to get hacked in this game. dumber than i was.

Ive only been hacked once because i was using the same password and username on multiple games. its another easy way to get hacked in case of data breaches. https://haveibeenpwned.com/ will tell you if your email was associated with databreaches.
I wasnt using 2fa

it is LITERALLY impossible to get hacked remotely with it. they need access to your phone too...so 100% your fault

Runescape is amazing at making you wise the f up with account protection and scammer detection. losing my bank as a kid really taught me a lot and im happy it happened before i was an adult dealing with real money in the real world.

Not entirely true. Should they happen to gather enough data about you for Security Question form through social media and breaches, they can reset your password and bypass 2fa on RS account. At that point, that account is just gone forever. Even if recovered, they got the security question answers to recover it back again and again. These recovery questions cannot be changed and for new account, are no longer in use. Older accounts still uses them. By older accounts, i mean accounts with username instead of email.

It's harsh to say but, it's most likely your own fault. RuneScape even has a dungeon dedicated to account security called "Stronghold of Security". They put a lot of effort into prevention, having the PIN system ingame as another failsave if there has been a breach to protect your asset, that's a lot of thought to save you.
It seems, you haven't put nearly a minimum amount of thought into a good password.
If you value something, you protect it with a good password.

I still hope Jagex will help you, at least it's also in their interest to support their playerbase no matter how... negligent they are about their security.

iv played over 15 years and never been "hacked" i also keep my security tight and i kept my original e-mail with my agreement when i sighned up we dont own the characters we rent them i also printed it off so im secure never use eny q&a that enyone would guess perfect eg is whats you fave food allot put there achual food fave like chips i wouldnt id say sky scraper something totally different have to think out the box. iv allways had good help but you have to be clear and respectful if they think your acting childish they wont respond its same reason they dont have a phone number sadly. good luck ob your game adventures

don't use same password on multiple platforms/services, change password to more complex one, don't share accounts, don't give details to anyone (no reason to give details anyway) keep passwords safe if written in a locked safe or safety deposit box. 2 factor if your never planning to change numbers) etc.
