Best way in your opinion to farm gold as F2P player
So I actually have 2m gold in my pouch, doing headless arrows but its a very slow progress, also tried with cowhides but its kinda annoying running from bank to cows etc.
Do you guys know the best tips for making gold as F2P?

Cows or chickens are decent, though not afk at all.
Smelting bars or smithing arrowheads/dart tips is good and moderately to very afk. Mining is alright, it's not particularly afk unless you want ♥♥♥♥ rates from an empty stamina bar though.
Buying stuff from npc stores and selling on the ge/flipping stuff on the ge is decent to excellent money, but the npc store runs take a fair amount of work, the flipping is in a sense even more work in that it requires you know what you're doing, and both really suffer from the f2p ge slot limit.
Archaeology is ok, though obviously fairly harshly level capped.

Generally the best tip of all is that 2 alts working on afk stuff is better than 1 account working on active stuff. Especially if you still have your one main playing for fun at the same time.

Quoted my own post from an older topic asking the same question.

The one way I farmed my gold for the initial few first Bonds were through mining and ironically enough Mining is pretty much my main method of money making as P2P too.

As F2P the best way to make money through Mining is leveling it to 40 and mining Luminite[runescape.wiki] in the Dwarven mines[runescape.wiki]. For this method to be effective you need level 15 Dungeoneering[runescape.wiki] to access the hidden mine[runescape.wiki] portion of the place. The mine has a Bank Deposit Box and is just beside the Luminite rocks. As your Mining level gets higher the hourly rate you make money will get higher aswell.

I haven't played F2P since before they had previews of members' skills so I'm not entirely sure what your capabilities are.

However I don't think anything in F2P won't involve constantly running a long distance to a bank.
You would have to keep killing cows for it, but off of the top of my head you should be able to get the explorer's ring 3, farm potatoes in the allotment at the falador farm, kill the cows that are there while you wait for the potatoes to grow (assuming free players can use that patch), and cabbage-port back to the farm after every run to the bank or the Entrana deposit box.

You would be wrong. Smelting bars or smithing arrowheads/dart tips involves no running to the bank at all. Mining Luminite involves very little running, just a dozen or so steps to the deposit box every 146 or so ore. Flipping never needs you to leave the GE. Killing cows or chickens at Lumbridge is a fairly short distance from the bank, even shorter (though losing a few and worse distribution, so not recommended) killing cows near Beefy Bill. Spellwisps are right by a deposit box. High alching can go as long as you have more runes and noted items without banking (or moving your cursor, for that matter).

I'd have to check there's no random patches of cows out in the wilderness or something to say for certain, but that might be the worst place in FtP to kill them.
Potato runs aren't bad if you keep an eye on the time, but whether they're worth breaking your rythm at something else...

Spellwisps. Bank right next to you with the Wizard. Easy 3m an hour.

They're easy to kill? I actually have 40 def and attack, full +2 adamite armor and 2+ battleaxe.

Legacy mode, dual-wield fast mithril-rune weapons, 1-2 shot each, area loot all, bank, repeat.

And I have question about archeology, what if i reach 20 lvl? I wont be able to excavate things or just my character will not receive xp doing that?

You won't gain XP for it once you hit the F2p cap.

As with all p2p skills in f2p (since they changed it to have the level caps instead of being entirely locked out), once you hit the cap you can still do things but get a chatbox message telling you you're getting no exp and should buy membership to continue levelling it. Though the cap is 5 for most of the skills.
Oh, and once you hit the level cap in a skill, be that the free to play cap in members skills, 99 in skills that only go up that far, or 120 in skills that go to 120, you can go talk to a challenge mistress to disable getting daily challenges in that skill. You should definitely do that for p2p skills in f2p.

You could try cutting willow logs and selling them.

Back in the day I used to kill guards and sell the grapes. I have a feeling that's not very efficient by today's standards.
Grundogz1997 Apr 8, 2024 @ 10:12pm
nah grapes are still good, 11k per grape or something like that last i checked

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
