General chat tab?

Hello,

Is there a general chat? I think mine disappeared. I can only see what the person next to me says, and it doesn't show in any of my chat tabs.

yep u can turn them on and off using the social tab bottom right
click the 2 people tab and drop up menu is there with all the different chats

also you may have turned public chat off by mistake , look at the chat option just above your chat box

Yes, the public chat tab is gone.

I have "Clan Chat", Guest Clan Chat", "Group chat", "Trade and Assistance" and finally "Emotes" tab. No public chat.


I can't get it to work. My whole chat window looks quite different from yours. A lot of buttons I don't recognize on yours.

on the global chat tab just see if the 3rd symbol is on or off , that disables local chat in the chat box

I found the filter button now, and I have to filter for each selected tab. It's the "Trade and Assistance" tab that has a local chat. It looks quite different for me.

I can't find the "Global Chat" tab at all.

Maybe "Global chat" and "Local chat" is the same thing?

Idk maybe it's a tutorial thing, and you haven't got the option for global chat yet


In my chat option tabs the first 2 are all chat (global) and emotes is next to it

Oh, that button down there among all the others. Didn't realise its function. It all appears to be working now. Thanks a lot for the help. :)

Everything is on your ribbon, hover over them for some options and click them for other options

quests . challenges, chats , all game options the lot is there

it lloks that Runescape actually lack a "Server wide chat" or "general chat" -even when there is that "chat window" in game...
What a let down... like seriously? its 2020 ?

Im playing on biggest populated servers and chat is usually 99% empty of any conversation - mostly cos there are some limits, and you only see "localy posted" chat, i somehow doubt those are even like -city wide (so in Falador, you dont even see Grand Exchange chats)

"General chat" actully show you a lot of "server happening" and by that i mean all those "player found precious item" "player got cape" "player skilled to 99" , like who cares?

So im either blind, or there are no "general chat" that is worth mentioning (btw visit mmo like Black Desert, and chat will scroll faster then you can read, and thers like MANY diffrent chat-rooms avaible too)
#edit and btw it looks that a lot of "chatty Runescape player" actrually sit on "dedicated discords" while playing for chat options

Hi! Those world notfication of players achievements can get pretty annoying. If you want to see less to none of that. Click on "microphone" icon in your chat box to toggle "off broadcast messages" you won't have to worry about it anymore.

toggles in settings, you can set them to everyone, friends only, clan only or no one
and further set them to show any the type you want to see, EG no drops but all 99s

Hi guys, I htink i found your problem.

on your right hand side where you have backpack, skills, worn equipment etc, go to the bottom where your currency pouch is. under that is will have the community icon between powers and upgrades&extras. Hover your mouse over community and literally just above is 'All Chat'.

There's no server chat? I was wondering why no one spoke to each other or responded to me
