At the end of the day, RS is mainly for people with time and/or money and/or nostalgia goggles. It's not like any other mmo, in that you must train specific skills one or a few at a time. And yes, it is objectively p2w, since you can use real money to obtain keys, which helps you obtain oddments, which let you purchase exp lamps that provide the fastest leveling in the game outside of member quests like The World Wakes.

don't give up my boy, learning a game that's almost 20 years in will be hard at first, but you will soon pick it up.
also use the official runescape forums on their website as OSRS and RS3 players dont waste their time in eachothers forums there.
steam forums on the other hand are full of negativity and if you have heard of OSRS vs RS3 well...here in these forums is where you will find the war as this is cross-gaming meta community meeting place at its finest.
