I've put in thousands of hours on both games and I like them both.

They are fundementally different games with their only similarities being that they are classed as MMORPGs and they both use ability based combat systems (although the combat systems are ultimately so different that I can't even compare it to any spec/class in WoW at all).

Runescape is a slower paced game with more grinds and loot is more comparable to Diablo, only in that you repeatedly kill a boss or do a dungeon in order to get a specific drop that may be 1/50, 1/100, 1/350 etc.

It's worth a try but it's not for everyone.

Runescape essentially you pay a flat monthly subscription and the developers update the game on a semi-frequent basis. Weekly/biweekly usually. It has a ton of content that even myself after 230+ days in game still haven't maxed all skills or fought every boss. So much to accomplish.

Its for sure something you could sink your teeth in too. if your computer could handle it, you could play WOW while AFK Grinding in runescape with alot of the skills that it has to offer. Ive played both, and tried to return to WOW, but still always return to Runescape for its slower paced gameplay, and for myself, i feel it is a more pick up on the go style with alot of what is available to do. WoW, when i go and play, i want to make sure ive got hours set aside for what is available. Thats my comparison, and at the end of the day it's always worth trying out something new, you never know what you like till you try it!

At the very least the quests are a lot better than WoW and I mean a lot better, not meaning to throw shade at Wow but RS pretty much has some of the best quests in MMO's just because they are more like a fully fledged game with mechanics, puzzles, ongoing narratives, a lot more going on than kill-x/get-x. Playing RS it's kind of like playing a solo D&D campaign a lot of the time with an invisible dungeon master. That would partly be because according to the Mods that's how they were told/taught to design quests, make them like you would a D&D campaign. Though RS does have its weak quests to but those are largely weak due to being very old, everything from like 2010 onward was good to fantastic baring a few exceptions.

Well how much of the game is locked if I don't pay the Sub right away?

I would suggest playing through the free to play quests. If you enjoy it while playing those, get membership.. the vast majority of content is locked behind membership

No.

Yeah the writing in RS3's quests is a million times better, WoW has some good stuff though, 1 quest can be the length of an entire questline (and then it'll be part of a bigger questline)

As a game though, imo WoW. Classes and races give more to ♥♥♥♥ around with casually, and the raiding is something that RS barely has any of. Except for 99 dungeoneering (fun) and the small raids we have so far

I mean, personally, I prefer dungeons over raids. I never really got into WoW raids. Never had a set raiding group. Too much to handle.
