Is this an offline version of RuneScape?
If not, can we get an offline version of RuneScape?

I generally don't play games online, so this would be a fit for me.

I long wanted an offline RuneScape. Since I didn't interact with anyone and only played for the questing aspect. RuneScape always had a fun story, even after the sixth age stuff.
There's, what, 2 quests that require multiple people? Shield of Arrav and Heroes Quest.

It wouldn't be a small feat, though, and probably is too niche to be a worthwhile investment. Then comes the question of whether this offline RunEscape would be updated with the main game (requiring a team to port content to the offline version) or would just stand static (unfinished plot threads and all). Or DLC, I guess, but that'd become pretty unmanageable.
(Also Jagex doesn't have the best track record with spinoffs, cough cough.)

theres like 2 quests that need more then 1 person. hell, i think they even got changed so you can do it solo (i know sheild of avrok did)

the main things are boss fights/raiding and pvp. also most people buy items of the ah. doing a no ah run (aka, ironman/ hardcore ironman) is alot harder

In theory you could play it offline but thats more in the gray era, its basically World of warcraft on how they have private servers, "google it" wink wink, its how people run the old classic of runescape version.,

I used to run my own and create and edit Wow, I was only interested in the editing/designing process of this game. But eh, better to sub/pay as there will be issues and bugs.

Unless you want to go Ironman mode.

There is now an offline version of Runscape, called EasyRS06 by Mige. Its based on the Oldschool 2006 version but also has 2007 elements. He no longer maintains it as of recently, so I'm not sure how complete he has made it, but so far I've not seen anything missing other than the Grand Exchange (though the GE trade system is accessible with a console command) It seems to be built on a version of the Eclipse engine, but don't quote me on it. I've been jamming out on it since I got it about a week ago.

I'll give one idea as a sample, and that is to start with simply omitting or making the quests automatically completed, as there is plenty of other content there;

If you have to cut entire types of content to make a lesser version of the game, I don't feel there would be much point of it at all.

A lot of people don't enjoy quests but a lot of people do. Even if on mobile they aren't the most easiest experiences, especially some of the puzzles or events you have to do. But it's all still there.

If you cut content then no matter what someone is going to complain that you cut the "wrong" content and that the insufferable part of the game was actually another part of the game. It'd be like me saying, no they need to keep quests in, but they should get rid of the Farming and Slayer skills in this offline version. As someone who dislikes farming and slayer, I don't care. But players who love Farming and Slayer would be disappointed if this version had those features cut.

Best solution would be port a single player version in the most rushed way possible and if it's broken it's broken, no one would be playing that version anyway. Then eventually a few of the players who would play the game might make a "rebalance" mod that makes it more like a single player game. This has the benefits of being fast, taking minimal resources away from developing the main game. And The modder that does the rebalance would be interested in single player games instead of being a group of developers for a massive server multiplayer game for 10+ years where most of their experience comes in developing a multiplayer game and features that work in a multiplayer setting.

I doubt an offline version would happen and even if it did I would guess it'd be wildly unpopular. Or levelling and power scaling would be a joke. I think a lot of the games core gameplay grinding levels was designed so when you're spending hours hitting a tree/rock, you talk to the people hitting the same trees and rocks as you. In a single player version you just have to stand there and hit the tree day in and day out.

Not interested in asian-made games, thanks.

haha yeah, i know. the RS isn't that fun of a game, but if it were upgraded to offline mode i might try again. mostly for mods and stuff because I'm not interested in the massive grind i did as a kid (wasted summers and weekends JUST grinding). The game needs at least a 3x experience boost to what is had back in 2005 (idk where it is now); but a 10x experience boost would be better.

the offline version would probably get rid of that nasty delay for responding to player commands as well, that's one reason i never tried pvp even once. it's the reason i don't play even CoD online anymore or any other online games.
