this 8k are probably people, decided to open the game for the sake of the good old times, but since the game is so different now, they will quit soner or later... come back after 1 month and check if the player number is the same :p

There are some bots in runescape but there's an automated system in the game that detects most of them and on top of that now through steam there's even more anti-bot monitoring. You will encounter some bots here or there (especially at the Wilderness Volcano) but the vast majority of players online are actually players.

Runescape 3 has a much smaller bot population than osrs, I'd say probably less than 5% out of the entire game population if not less that 1%. They dont last long. You will find the odd one here and there but most players are real players.

F2P have a bit more bots than p2p, p2p is like 95% (if not more) real players. And f2p probs 70% are real players. (but for the release of steam). You wont found that many botting if you will become a member one day (if you arent already)

rs3 bots get banned within 2hours if not sooner. the reason osrs is full of bots is cuz more profitable. and they dont have as advanced of a bot detection system. with rs3 being C++ the only bot you can realy use is an overlay bot. but at that point your just for-fitting your pc while it runs. osrs being java and more open to injectins its super easy for someone to make a basic bot for
