In Feb 2013, Oldschool RS (aka OSRS or RS2) was released which was a copy of the game's state in 2007. OSRS differs from RS3 mainly in that it does not include the new combat system using skills, loot crate style micro-transactions which can give xp advantages (P2W), cosmetic overrides for armor/equipment. OSRS also still retains the older look & feel, however a third party client called OSBuddy is very popular way to enhance this. OSRS is now available on iOS and Android with rumors of RS3 coming to mobile soon. OSRS is sometimes called RS2 because it was released after RS Classic (aka RS1), the first version of the game released in 2001. RS Classic can no longer be played. You can use the same account/membership subscription to play both OSRS and RS3 but progress made in one does not translate to the other. If you're new to RS and prefer modern MMOs, I'd try RS3 first.

as in a few low lev acihvments and being able to pay through stea. be good for people that can only use steam funds to buy stuff
//Mod Husker
So more specifically, will we all be starting with fresh skill or with others who already have advanced through game play?
this is RS3, which is full HD and amazing sound.
You publish an old game (nothing wrong with that) and expect new players to play on the same servers (and most likely screwed up economies) than people that have been playing there for years?
Or will new steam players have access to a new, fresh server?
I never played any RuneScape game before and I'd like to try it if its really different than what i saw.
they ban bots all the time. they do bot ban streams from time to time. hell, they used to do it when a bot got banned you could go to a trial like place, see the bot and vote on how it got banned "crushed to death, lightning, ect) you also got told there bank price (same with the steams, yo got showed there bg wealth and highest priced items)
i never see bots in rs3. helps that alot of the things bots used to do got harder/worthless
