is this game solo-player friendly?
I'm looking for an MMO to play a bit till Lost Ark comes out and I've heard good things about the game.

There is a mode called Ironman which is entirely self-sufficient ^^

I've played RS solo since 2006 and almost everything with the except of raids and some higher tier bosses you can do completely by yourself.

Yes! Look into ironman mod as stated above by Mod Stark

95% of RS3 and OSRS can be experienced solo.

95% even feels like a conservative estimate

Im assuming you just meant solo play as in not with friends. I do not recommend Ironman if its your first time playing RS. Don't do that to yourself.

Idk if I would recommend Ironman mode until you're familiar with the game. You can be self sufficient on a regular account while still being able to trade with others if you want to. After you get a feel for the game if you think Ironman seems appealing then go for it, but I wouldn't to start out unless you're 100% sure you want to get everything yourself.

It's even more solo friendly than it used to be. Rocks for mining are instanced now!

And if you want to skill more than you want to make money, check out dungeoneering. Then you get a little instanced space for yourself and any people you invite. I've got no in game gold to show for the time I spent there, but it was a ton of fun.

I especially enjoyed selling everything to the trader, buying materials, then crafting equipment to use / level up crafting skills.

If you don't play runescape regularly then make a regular character when you start out otherwise it gonna be really slow and difficult to lvl up certain skills and make Gold without the Grand Exchange. Ironman can't trade, use the Grand Exchange and Get loots off dead player.

I was always a solo player. Doing quests was the main thing for me.

Ironman mode, as stated already, makes you 100% self sufficient. No trading with others. No buying anything. You have to make all your own equipment or get it as loot.

I also recommend Ironman mode, though it's still entirely possible to play the normal game as a single player; most existing players are running bosses and you'll never see them anyway. If you enjoy games like Minecraft or Terraria where for example you have to work your way up from bronze, steel, mythril, etc by mining the ore yourself and obtaining the right crafting materials, you'll enjoy Ironman mode. It feels extremely satisfying to work your way up through dozens of tiers and craft high-level gear.

One thing to note on deciding whether you want to play ironman or not: you can remove ironman status from an ironman account. You cannot add ironman status to a non-ironman account.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it for your main account, as locking yourself out of the game's economy makes a number of things either much more difficult or time consuming to do. However, if you do think you may want to play ironman, the item to remove it only costs 50k.

It's very solo-friendly, in my personal experience so far (about 1500 total level).

Is Lost Ark a Korean ARPG?
PainKiller Sep 24, 2020 @ 9:11pm
it is a singleplayer game
