I am so SICK of this...
It's not enough that the very vocal and very annoying .5% of the player base needs an entire month to just to validate their existence, now Jagex is forcing us to accept this insanity as a permanent part of the in-game universe.

"You're just a hateful bigot!"

This is such a worn out trope that it honestly doesn't mean anything anymore, being called a bigot because I believe in reality and biology is laughable.

"What's the big deal? It's such a small change!"

Such an easy thing to say when you've already gotten what you want. As if there wouldn't be an extreme reaction if this "small change" was suddenly reverted.

"It's a fantasy game with magic and dragons lol, why are you complaining about this?"

If that's the case then why am I not mowing through my slayer tasks in an M1A1 Abrams tank? Immersion and escapism is critical to the success of a game. When you continue to inject IRL politics and ideologies into this fantasy setting you erode that immersion.

"But female dwarfs are know to have..."

Just stop, this is straw grasping to an embarrassing degree. Show me a SINGLE female NPC, let alone dwarven female, in all of Gielinor that has a beard. You can't, because like IRL it is not, has not, and never will be the norm no matter how much your delusions want it to be.

I started my journey in OSRS last year after quitting RS3 in 2013 because it felt like it was one of the last escapisms in gaming for a classic gamer like myself. Since then I have already accumulated thousands of hours playing it as I absolutely love it. But it seems that nothing remains sacred forever and that it too has succumbed to the "updated for a modern audience" plague that continues to sweep all forms of media. I'd like to believe that Jagex will come to their senses and realize why OSRS was created and was so successful in the first place. But my heart says that they won't. :steamsad:

Agreed, it's frankly ridiculous that this change was made to Old School RuneScape, a variant of the game specifically reintroduced to appeal to players dissatisfied with how to game changed to begin with, introducing radical gender ideology into a game intended to market towards nostalgia is absolutely pants-on-head.

Yes, I like small changes being made for good reasons, and dislike small changes being made for bad reasons.

What are you even talking about? Your character is totally unchanged. You wouldn't even know about the update if not for the changelog. And apparently you're RPing in OSRS, since you've assigned a gender to the pixels on the screen.

Go to the Makeover Mage on an existing char; you're Body Type A/B and only the pronoun that was picked at creation time is preserved: https://i.imgur.com/ZqvZfiC.png

Yeah yeah minor change doesn't affect anything poppycock; I don't like the change on principle and know it's over-encompassing after checking. I chose Male at character creation time, not Body Type A.
So nothing has changed, then. Your character has the exact same body and is referred to exactly the same way, except now more people also have the option to look and be referred to as they like. What principle makes you opposed to that?
What do you think "male" is?

That's a weird question. How do you identify the characteristics of a Steve? They identify as such.

Why remove male and female terms? The human race is binary. We have males and females that are born into this world.

There is no third gender or sex. Now there can be a defect. Where something went wrong. Where a child has both female and male genitalia but it's super rare. If I go to Japan, China, Africa, anywhere on the planet. I am going to find male and female people in those places.

It's so funny that the arguments is "We want to be inclusive so everyone feels welcome" Yet removing male and female doesn't feel welcoming to those that identify as male and female.

Also banning people for misgendering. Well there goes your entire player base. Good luck with making games for your minority audience.

The principle that the character I made is forced to those standards regardless if I wanted to participate in it or not. And I happen to not agree with the standard (humanoid characters in a game are either M or F, or they're under a whole different class of fantasy demon/goblin/dragon/whatever). The latter doesn't apply here; the character you play in OSRS is Male or Female and you're definitely human. Or rather now genderless but you can look like type A or type B.

I think Male is a gender term. I'm content with believing there's scientifically only two choices for gender. If you want to be a helicopter, have at it; I didn't want to be a part of this nonsense but now I'm forced to it.

Whatever effect this was supposed to have for inclusion, this only has me raising my brows at that whole group where I was otherwise neutral. They have enough sway to have my forced-inclusion and character changed, so what's next? Ya'll got me into this without consent and I'm not happy about it.

stay mad about it
