does a rune axe chop trees down faster than a bronze axe regardless of lvl? or is it the lvl that speeds chopping time?

Better axes do have a higher chance of giving you a log every roll, as does having a higher WC level. Most trees deplete on a timer instead of every log roll now, though.

Without tick manipulation, you roll for a chance to get a log every 4 ticks (2.4s) you chop a tree.
