Zulrah didn't exist in 2004 though, it's the best boss and the game is nothing without it.

unfortunately because of the mass reliance on 'tools' the boss fights in this game have devolved to clicking colored, pre-determined boxes and requires no real skill or understanding of game mechanics.

Just click this blinking square when it changes color etc.

unless youre being sarcastic. But 2004scape has no bots and is much harder. members coming out in 4/5 weeks

True, Runelite and other such tools ruined the challenge from many parts of the game, in a similar fashion how yellow paint is used by lazy developers in other games to make sure even a braindead player knows what they should do next. Both are big immersion-breakers.

But Zulrah is unironically the best boss the game's ever had, personally I learned it using the default Java client, so I have fond memories about that, and the game is nothing without it.

I don't understand how it's possible to do Zulrah first-time as a Hardcore without dying.
Has someone done that though? I don't think that's something that's expected to be done, just like how in other RPGs you're not supposed to start with a hardcore, or you'll surely die.

I wanted a Crystal Halberd and Zulrah is the only (imo) outlandish req for that (not sure what a toxic snake has to do with Crystal on a stick lore-wise and it feels like the req is there just to promote Zulrah). If it wasn't for C halberd, I wouldn't care anything about Zulrah :p
I don't know what Jagex was smoking when they thought that killing Zulrah was a task that's on the same tier as killing giant mole, a lava dragon, a lizardman shaman etc, and how killing Skotizo was supposed to be harder as an elite task. Zulrah should definitely be an elite task.

Yeah right and then people wonder how they get malware... install random stuff found on internet, trust people... + Not sure what's more dumb... advertising in Jagexs section or adverting it as "popular" lol..

These concerns should also apply to Runelite; both clients are 3rd party open source projects with similar levels of risk.

2004scape can be played all within the browser. No downloads required!

its a browser based game and requires no install. Interesting comment though.

Personally, I use guides for skillng/leveling but I turn everything off and go offline from everything when I quest. It's the best experience IMO as I haven't done a lot of OSRS' content since 2003.
I like the concept but i think that 2004 is a little too far back. 2005 saw the release of slayer and farming, actually fleshed out the desert with more content and like a dozen quests, morytania was developed to actually be worth going to with barrows released and several quests, etc. people are going to fairly quickly run out of things to do without half the early quests in the game and the longest skills to train not being available.
or you play 2009scape
i want actual classic runescape back. thats what i want.
