such emotional problems lol. the majority of players want a new skill. the polls prove that
if it's 65% for it that might be a technical majority at face value, but if like 20% of people don't bother to vote it could be anywhere from like 50-80%... still it would hardly beat the 75% needed to pass. assuming even 65% of the theoretical 20% voted yes it would still only be like just 75%... but if they didn't vote they probably don't care that much so 65% is probably generous.
but that's all assumptions anyways... in reality it didn't pass.
we can't have a meaningful discussion on unknowns like that. if they don't vote its reasonable to assume they are fine with anything.
infact the oldest players are the most involved. newer players who would accept any new skill are probably the most likely to not vote. so it stands to reason the non voters are vastly more likely to support new skills
I would say it's opposite that old players are mostly voting no, because that would completely change how game is played. As for new players they wouldn't care, because they don't know much about the game and everything new is just a new thing to them, when old players know a lot, know strats, ways of training etc, everything what changes would force them to learn again and that would take time and resources.
At least that's how I see this from both perspectives.
you kinda just said the same thing as me. new players want MORE CONTENT, older players vote no to avoid all change (even good change)
the game is supposed to change over time. this is not a museum
Since Steam released you've started two accounts, correct? How far could you have really gotten on an Ironman?
A lot of Veteran players like myself weren't a big fan of the direction RS3 took, and it seems like you're trying to bring a lot of those elements back. Not only that, but from my perspective you aren't exactly "one of us". I took you for a newer player and you yourself have admitted to liking a number of things that have come around EOC.
You have a new player, demanding "new"( RS3) content, without having much invested in the current content. You weren't one of the players that left due to the EOC changes, and you weren't one of the players that invested in getting OSRS off the ground and making it what it is.
A lot of players are going to see this as an RS3 player with a low attention span, trying to turn the game into the EXACT thing it isn't.
I think you've had good ideas Duke but i don't think that adding skills more commonly associated with RS3 is one of them and i want you to understand why the community may treat some of your suggestions pretty harshly
no, infact i think the name of the game should be renamed. i don't play this game because it is "old"
yes i did quit when eoc came out. but i also know not to throw the baby out with the bathwater, i quit BECAUSE of the eoc. 2011 pre eoc runescape was peak awesomeness
the core mechanics were changed by the eoc. that's why it was bad. the core mechanics of runesscape are:
grinding skills
click and wait combat
a certain graphical style
rare high value drops and big varied drop tables
if an update doesn't change these things. its not part of what ruined rs2
no i really dont' think i am, i think very few people are playing this game for nostalgia. it has unique things that no other mmo has; including rs3
But statements like this prove you're the minority, and suggest osrs isn't for you. You fundamentally don't understand this community or why OSRS is the way it is.
What you're looking for is a custom tailored runescape experience. I can't blame you, but you should be able to understand why people aren't siding with you.
But your opinions and assertions aren't facts and don't speak for anyone but yourself. You make really broad generalizations you simply don't have the means to back.
Again, PROVING you're the minority.

thats the google display result man. Straight from the horses mouth.
well you didn't prove anything you just said your opinions over and over
people are not here for nostalgia, they are here cuz rs3 is microtransactions trash with the eoc combat system. Besides many people could be more nostalgic for the 2008-2011 era. infact we know this is true because of the popularity of the HD clients

I tried to be nice. If you want to have your head up your rear it's no skin off my back.
I'm just letting you know why people are treating you the way they are on this forum, and it's because you're being ignorant.
Take care.
well it doesn't matter what they advertise it as. advertisements are almost always misleading and are not to be taken as any form of evidence.
if the game was JUST nostalgia it wouldn't get updates at all. no people come here for the mechanics.
infact we can prove the opposite because osrs almost died when it came out as it wasn't getting updates. people expect the game to grow and change. its just you have to know good change and bad change and be able to identify which is which.
