How dumb do some of these scammers think players are?

I found a guy offering 100gp for a hammer. Would've ignored it, but happened to find a hammer on the ground so I picked it up looking to make an easy 100. We go into the trade window. I offer the hammer but I don't click Accept. He did, without putting money in, so I decline the trade.

He then says "I'll drop the money." I tell him no, put it in the trade window. He then says "It won't let me." He then walks to a spot and says "Pick up the money." I wait a minute and nothing materializes, so I report him for scamming.

Seriously, do they think players are that stupid?

My account couldn't trade with players when i started. maybe it's the same for him? Think about it man, it's a hammer and 100g.

Well, his combat level was 15, so he must have already spent some time playing. Also, you can go to the general store and buy a hammer for 1g, so asking another player for one for 100 is just bonkers.

theres deff scams eveywhere tho ive been playing over a yr and i dont trade or follow anyone thats what the ge is for and i havent been scmmed yet . the most popular scam rn that get noobs is the giveaways or the ppl that are "quitting the game"( noone ever quits osrs) where they give u a link or tell u to go to youtube and search ect... just remember no one wants to give u anything for free or they would do so without u needing to follow them or look up a link and above all if u just stand there at the ge and ignore ppl they will never scam u and remember NEW PLAYERS DONT BEG (that mans a alt beggging account that makes bank daily)

You say how dumb are the scammers, but are they? It clearly works that's what they've been doing it for so long. So think, how dumb are the players.

This might be the reason

New Free-to-play accounts have trade restrictions in place until the account's logged in time surpasses 20 hours of game time, 10 or more quest points are acquired, and reaching 100 total level. Such restrictions include a block from selling items on the Grand Exchange.

clearly you didn't get scammed since you got that hammer for free and can get another one easily

the scammers you should worry about are the ones spamming the chat with bots at the ge, they will steal your account if you fall for their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Well if he is an ironman he can't pick up stuff either
