They are different clients than what's on their website I think though, at least the OSRS one definitely is so they would need to port it over. As I already said though, who knows how long they will take to actually do it...
Lol the only reason 95% of the playerbase uses third-party clients IS because Jagex won't implement the same QoL features the thirdparty clients provide. On top of that the vanilla OSRS client, Runelite, OSBuddy and Steam client do not require you to have java installed.
The original OSRS client (Jagex) requires a Java Runtime Environment installed. RuneLite packages a JRE (AdoptOpenJDK) so it can run standalone. The Steam client doesn't use Java -- it's written in C++.
I'm not sure I would use the Steam client now, anyway. Way too invested in RL lol.
that's kinda silly that this version doesn't have a mac client, but you have a solution so eh?
There is literally a native mac version of the game. Official.
But for some reason it ain't through steam. Even if they were working on a better client, you'd still put the older one there as temporary with a notice stating so.
this is irrelevant. the game already exists on mac through an official client via the website.
your comment applies strictly to the circumstance of a user whining that a particular game is unavailable on macos, while never being promised to be on it in the first place.
