try putting some of your points into giving you a better parry window, then learn his 3 patterns of attacks, parry 2-4x and then hit him with your claw (make sure you have long claw) and repeat

also, axe is definitely the best, use the axe after you parry his attacks it will get you into range of the boss, if the axe is high enough level it should stun him it and it may give u time to do a claw as well.
in case you haven't beaten him yet - Hammer is the best plague weapon as it fully knocks him down and interrupts every attack.
you should try to steal Odur's ability as often as possible as it is very useful against him - the initial strike stuns and interupts his attacks, and it gives you a buff for 30 seconds that greatly empowers your dodge
not sure if you beat it yet but the way i did it was by focusing on dodging and spamming saber, just dodge and spam didn't deflect or anything else.
It doesn't get better after beating him. Use the skills that increase damage for blocking then focus on claw hits. This worked for me, but once I got to the next area I said screw it and stopped playing. The parrying is too *#*@$ for my liking.
I also had problem with him but I found a way.

When he is about to attack you dodge and then you have time to hit him 2-3 times and then dodge away from him and then repeat it the whole time until you killed him.

It will take some time but until the end you will have him killed.

I did it that way and it worked.

I think its overall adsorb how difficult the boss fight is. Like I am level 20 and I can't just seem to do no damage. I have my sword, dodge, and claw full damage, class cannon build. And yet I still struggle to get even second face of the battle. And its been over 2 years since they balanced this game. Even some of the "mini-bosses" feel very unbalanced.

Sorry edit: Almost 3 years, feel like they just abandon the game at this point

Like surely I can eventually beat the game, but that I have to grind so many levels. To even get close to beating some bosses, feels little too much for my taste.

It gets very pooring, for me just spam m1 enough times to use my dagger to deal massive dmg. Need healing? spam m2 with fast claw attacks to regain health. But overall game feels very unbalanced against some mini bosses.

Literally no point never increasing Vitality. Just go damage

Just dodge and attack pretty much like every other game, you just need to get used to the enemy's attacks and timings and also the game mechanics. You don't need parry or block.

Katar

The attack is very fast making it hard for the boss to dodge, and we'll need speed for a certain boss later.

The step up will interrupt every movement of every enemy, while we're in the air we can choose if we want the next hit to empower the saber (to lower more the white bar) or the claw (to lower more the green bar).

I don't know if the energy recovered is related to the damage we deal with the claw, but if so... more energy recovered as well.

But this early in the game we won't have the Katar maxed out yet. I remember beating him with axe too.

Which leads to an observation -> we can keep doing the other quests and leave the bosses for later, it will help not only to lvl up but also to get more weapons and lvl them up, and also to improve our own skills in the game.

Pretty much.

And I would add... the long claw is better IMHO, it will help you close the distance and deal more damage and recover more energy in one single movement. And there is a passive for a second attack.

Like I said above, you can do the sub quests and leave the bosses for later, you'll lvl up, lvl up your weapons and get new ones, you'll also get more lore (in case you are interested).

I wanna play as that magician dude...
My hits always overrule enemy hits, i can teleport all around, take away half the life force with my stick and if the enemy dodges i ignore that, strike the air and let it count as a hit.
Plus, regularly parries and dodges get disabled.
