This game definitely has an ideal play style, with a lot of room for customisation within that, but you won't be changing it that drastically, at least that's the impression I get, I'm not very far yet.

Talents upgrade your abilities (like more damage or more energy) and give you new abilities (like blocking or aerial attacks),
They do give you good new playstyle variations like focus on dodging or focus on blocking instead of deflect and you could go for a high energy regen build to carry 3 "special" weapons at once and use them a lot more frequently if that makes it more fun to you.
But let's just say Bleak Faith has garbage reviews, while Thymesia has great ones. Should be obvious which game deserves your trust.
