Fundamentally he's good but his aggression is way too high for an early game boss, let alone the first proper boss. And the second phase feels... excessive.

He just feels overtuned for where he is.

You need to match his aggression with aggression of your own. If you attack relentlessly in the first phase, he barely even gets a chance to attack. You do need to get the deflect timings down for his two possible counter attacks, but if you do, you can utterly dominate him. This carries over to phase 2 as well. Think of him like Father Gascoigne from Bloodborne. Odur is there to teach you how to think in Thymesia's combat style. It takes a bit of getting used to, but you can do it. Go all in, fearless aggression! Though keep an eye out in phase 2 for that ultimate, might want to hang back a bit for that.

Good luck!

You'll get to him. He's a pain, but my biggest piece of advice is to get the talents that improve the window for deflects at the cost of reduced damage. I was banging my head against him a bunch until I made the switch, then knocked him down in one try. Fun fight, honestly. You can do it!

GIt gud is quite possibly the most useless and unhelpful thing a person could say.

"Git gud" = "I want to make myself sound skilled while also insulting you, without contributing any useful information that could benefit you". IMO any reply that begins with that can be safely ignored.

Git gud just means, please don't change the game, instead you need to learn to get better at the game. It's probably true, that learning is required, but the problem is, that most people, who are in need to get better at the game, don't want to hear that and esp. not from a rando in the internet. I can understand that.
Personally, I don't feel insulted, because I know, that I'm always in need to get better at those types of games.

Now, regarding Odur. I think the learning process is a fun one here. I really could see a progress in my ability to handle him. Only very little frustration, except maybe the strange ultimate or the green crit-attack, which sometime was not interruptable.
It was more fun, than most of ER bosses, which always feel a bit clunky and RNG based and where you are always glad, it's over.

lol. no. gitgud. killed him in only a few tries. this is not a live service game. it's supposed to be hard. use cheat trainers or mods to make it easier if you will

Not gonna lie and be like "lol he was easy", because it certainly took a few tries to realize that I just had to deflect him instead of dodging. Like seriously forget the dodge button. Gap close, deflect + long claw. Not saying it's the only way, but it's what finally trivialized the fight for me personally and I got him. Such a cool boss.

He's like lady butterfly in sekiro but way easier. I mean only deadly thing about him is just his combo attack.
try deflecting his combo attack, if can't figure the timing using talent that increase the window it's make you defect like sekiro

Whatever it means, its utterly useless, its not like its a new phrase or someone is suddenly going to have an epiphany from it.

If they havent gitten the gudden by now, saying it one more time isnt going to suddenly make them develop leet skills and beat a boss.

This all being said, my guess is about 2-3 weeks and then it gets nerfed.

With no Summon to ease stuck players through, and no easy mode, players who absolutely cant beat it are going to have no option other than to refund and that isnt a great business decision.
