Do you have multiple sound devices? Maybe a Dual Shock 4 (Wireless Controller) being detected as speaker?

In any case, Right Click on the speaker icon next to the clock, click on "Sounds" or " Audio Devices". Then in the Playback tab there should be a number of options, like your monitor connected with an HDMI cable and so on.

On each of the ones that you don't use, right click and disable them (If you are scared and don't know what you are doing, you can easily reenable them there doing the same thing).

I'm having this issue and the above answer doesn't work for me

Got any other ideas on the no sound issue? I've disabled every audio device but the one that should be used, including unplugged ones. I get sound coming through for other games and things.

Cant's say I have any. Why don't you share your specifics?
Are you playing on Windows 11? 10? Maybe 7?
Are you running something else along with the game?
Does the game appear on the Volume Mixer?
Do you have some other sort of peripheral that could be said to be related to sound output?

It just worked for me and for most, so without some sort of info to identify possible problems, it's hard to guess what the problem could be about.

Game doesn't check for new devices at launch. For instance, if you start the game and THEN plug your controller in, your controller will not work. Try rebooting entire system and start the game with everything plugged in.

Win 10
I7-3770k
Rtx 3808
16gb ram
Xbone controller via Bluetooth, but problem exists with controller turned off

Had everything going through a Samsung TV via hdmi. For an experiment I tried some USB powered speakers that just plug into the 3.5mm jack on the mobo and same thing. I can get sound from everywhere else cept this game.

Also, this is a fresh install of windows from like 4 ish days ago.

Thanks for the help / suggestions. This is a super weird issue I've never encountered before in years of pc gaming

And yes, it does show up in the audio mixer.

It's almost like I don't have any sound files at all / I'm missing whatever is required to interpret the sound files.

I fixed it!

It turns out it was missing something with directx. I downloaded and installed from here and I have sweet glorious noise. Hope this helps someone in the future: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Just want to say that this helped me solve the exact same problem after I did a fresh install of Win10 with my new PC.
