Strolling Experience Gain!
So I was playing the Strolling a little bit and I found this out. Many of you might know this already, but i'm betting most of you didn't know this.

When you go to kill bad guys while Strolling, you get 40 experience if you kill the "leader", thats the one with more health the rest, hes also the scout that runs out by himself, conveniently letting you 1-shot him and move on with your life.

Killing the rest of the pack gives exactly 0 experience, even with the merit buff build.

I tested this for other things too
Tigers give exactly 1
Bears give exactly 1
Deer: This ones iffy, I think the daddy deer might give some
Wolves: i dont know how to tell which one is the "leader" but there will be 1 inside every pack that is worth 40 points, just kill them all I guess.

Now, why bother mentioning this? Well, normally, the AI will generate 500 free experience for itself every time you do anything, so, if you stroll, you're about to be 500 points behind, right? Well not if you go out and kill 10-20 'leaders'. That will make up for what you would've lost. Of course it also generates a free gift, weapon compatibility, and a small amount of gold and rations.

Also, I havn't tested this yet but, time passing generates 1 experience point as well. I was sitting in the menu, and I watched my XP go up by 1. in the menu! So you could totally leave and come back and have gained some xp. I'm going to run a 3rd party to increase the game speed to see just how long it takes to gain 1 xp.

I know 99% of you wont care. But I think its interesting that this could be a way to get some xp. I mean, if you want to spend the time walking around with your companion, you can grab a free 2k experience then pop out and go into a fight. Thats cheaper than using Training, and if say, you're planning on running 4 non-merit producing events, you could do 1 stroll and just grind the xp until you're back to where the AI is. meaning, with Stroll, you are only behind if XP if you choose to be.

Disclaimer: maybe 40 isnt standard as I was using +30% merit points, dunno.+

That's interesting, I certainly didn't have fixed numbers, I just knew it worked. I would kill wolves and bandits and check my EXP, but nothing improved, so I thought it could be some delay that maybe it only counts after a certain amount of experience is gained.

But I remember someone had found out that, if you add multiple EXP increase gems, only one of the highest will work. I didn't find Exp leveling very good on Strolling anyway.

I had also checked that to gain weapon proficiency, you need to kill around 3K enemies on Stroll, but you need around 2K on real battles. Well, I had added it to my Guide on Game Mechanics.

From what I've seen while strolling it's only the "leader" type enemies that give EXP, so in a pack of animals there's usually only one of them that counts. Though as far as killing animals goes, they only ever give 1 whole EXP, so killing bandit leaders is about the only way to actually get EXP during strolling at a reasonable rate.

Perhaps but mousu refreshes so fast and ine mouse can wipe out the whole gathering. So just wipe all and get gold in process

True enough, the only issue really is that as you get more KOs the enemies that spawn can be stronger, but using the slash element basically negates that problem too.

Is there a limit on how much EXP can you gain from killing mobs in strolling?

no, although you can't save midway, meaning, if you are patient and has tons of time, you should be able to reach lvl 100 in one month by playing over various days on strolling.

You can also gain supplies and gold by killing animals and bandits, so you will be the richest guy around.

Yes, and to expound upon this, since you can't use secret plans, the only way to get health back is to time skip, I think its like, you go to sleep in your hideout or something. Then you get your health back. So you could in fact live in stroll mode and mash your way to level 100.

Also, I found out that the higher level you are, the better strolling becomes. Towards level 40 I was finding that bandits and the like would spawn with 3 leader units, and sometimes you'd find entire roaming bands of leader units. and yes. Every single one of them grants 40 experience.

So once every 6 month period, when I have my strolling quest, I go through and work 1 or 2 levels just farming bandits. Easily allows me to keep pace with the AI without having to spend the resources on training, though if you're just playing as a ruler you likely dont have any problem with xp anyway since you can just run invasion after invasion if you have the funds.

I also experimented with manipulating the game speed to farm passive xp, but whatever the rate is, its meaningless. You could sit there for hours and never gain any useful xp amount.

Hmm, I think you are making too much out of leveling up, I mean, I never had any problem being a few levels behind, so long as my cards are good, besides my strategy with my allies, I hardly ever face harsh battles when I'm well prepared, I usually also like to place all my favorite officers in the same place, and then I start using Exercise All to grand EXP to all officers in the territory.

There was this one time where I was about Lvl 84, my allies were a little above it, and when I went to check the enemies, they were around 70~74. So you really don't need to do all that, you can use the normal training options, in fact, there is a title that gives you 1500 EXP AND 1500 food, no cost

There were many people who wanted to play the open world aspect of Dynasty Warriors 9 with the strategy of Empires. Sort of the only reason to name the title after 9, is if you're going to use the open world. They didnt. Most, if not all of the players, have felt disappointed in being robbed of Raids and Side Quests from DW 9 when you're not a Ruler or General/Officer.
I recognize the game is perfectly easy. I never said anything about it being too difficult. You're making assumptions. The reality is that, with this information, it is confirmed that you can in fact level up in Strolling mode, which used to be considered useless, now has a purpose.

Not everyone wants to play as a Ruler. Not everyone wants to play the most optimal way either. A large portion of Dynasty Warriors 9 players were interested in the Open World factor, and thats what this thread is about. This has nothing to do with how difficult it is or isnt.

How do you save midway? I not found a way to save while strolling but it would sure be nice. Not that I am exactly exp grabbing, but i like to turn my brain off and slaughter mobs for long periods or sometimes called away for 30-60 minutes.

So yea how do you save midway? without ending stroll?

No need to rest. Theres a 2k gem you can buy that drains 12% health and advible at start of game. I used that and farmed on my toon. While recruiting a few officers and getting lots of gold. Dong Zhou didnt stand a chance. He was first to fall.
