Is there a point to exploring the map?

So I know on strolls you can just wander off and explore the world map.
Is there a point to that?

Nope get 100 kills with a person following and you will get a random reward otherwise 0 purpose just cut up remains from 9 that was already lacking to begin with.

You can find hidden officers like Cai Wenji, Zuo Ci, Sima Yi or Dong Bai depending on the starting date. If there's a guard by the signpost they may give you a rumor to find someone.

who then don't 100% join any ways, say anything unique for finding them(let alone have anything unique happening), and can encounter/get without said action.
