As a fan of the Nioh series, this game is an extreme letdown - even more so than Wo Long. What the hell happened to Team Ninja? Everything after Nioh 2 has been a downgrade after downgrade.
First of all, the combat - which seems to be the only thing people who actually like this game bring up. It may appear more streamlined compared to Nioh and Wo Long, but it isn’t. The main "parry" mechanic either has some weird input delays or the timing is intentionally skewed to artificially increase difficulty, making it more annoying than satisfying.
The reaction time required for parries seems completely random. Sometimes, you need to parry right before the attack connects; sometimes, the moment the enemy starts swinging; sometimes, after the attack actually connects; sometimes, when it flashes red; sometimes, when it flashes red but only after it connects - but only if you're in range… It’s just a mess.
Beyond that, the overall gameplay, as well as the main and side storylines, are utterly disappointing.
This game is an actual 5/10 - there’s nothing interesting or special about it.
However, considering the performance issues, even 5/10 might be too generous.
Don’t waste your money on mediocrity, ever, even on sale.
Though I would disagree about Nioh 2 being the last best title, because I've enjoyed SoP, though it also has some problems with performance.
