Compared to the fantastic locales of Nioh, magical floating isles, giant trees and scary demons, RotR is just 19th century Japan. Looks fine, but the art style is kind of uninspired, in my humble opinion.
So in my view, this is as much of an art direction issue as a graphical one.
LOD, for example, is way better than Elden Ring. However, no Miyazaki in the credit, so no pass.
The en dub VAs is mostly composed of literal who while JP VA is mostly composed from top line VAs
That ♥♥♥♥ gets VERY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying in boss battles or worse, when you go against 1vs5 since the "Parry" are timed to specific "animation frame" and yes, I don't like that ♥♥♥♥, especially when the bosses allowed to go full DMC/Dynasty Warriors on me.
They can do that, but i can't and get punished for aggressive playing with "Hyperarmored boss" or "Mini-boss" just doing a 0.5 grappling "animation" ♥♥♥♥.
No one is using PS5 screenshots. They're playing the game on PC and they complained because the game looks NOWHERE as beautiful as Ghosts while having a lot more performance issues. No reason to lie here. They've done a pretty good job of cleaning up the performance issues and the game is pretty good. I'm just irritated that people named it the spiritual successor to Way of the Samurai and it doesn't fit the bill. Enjoying it so far regardless.
I started playing on the day it came out and graphics were pretty good. Granted I had most of the stuff on ultra-high and I used DLSS 4(used dlss swapper).
Some people probably lowered the graphics and used terrible upscaling like fsr 3 or xes and decided that the game looked bad.
I do agree with the performance. It was pretty bad and I still don't think it is acceptable now. Certain areas the CPU usage goes up to 80-90%, and I'm guessing it more has to do with the npc's.
I never played GOT so I never made a comparison but I highly doubt a game that came out 5 years ago can have better graphics than this one. Must be cherry picking.
