this isnt anything new but people will defend the game anyways with every excuse in the book. everyone knows this game shouldn't have been release in this state. everyone knew this game needs more optimization but people defend it anyways and wonders why devs dont fix the games post launch

Who in the video is defending it?

It just seems like you copy and pasted a post from a previous topic into this thread rather than anything to do with the actual video.

Likely one of the more important statements made

I mean it is an amazing game, ruined by bad optimization. But I was actually reading today, that the game actuallly also suffered on PS5. So it makes you wonder why we're still having this issues.

You're welcome.

its their first open world game
I'm not really seeing anyone defending the optimization, just some folks trolling for clowns with LOL UR PC IS BAD-style posts.

The optimization is very poor, which is a great shame, as this is the open-world game with the best combat I've played, hands down. With better coding and perhaps a bit more enemy variety (yokai, please), this game would be a legit 9/10.

That's not even a proper analysis, it's just a verdict that can be made at a glance.

Idk, maybe they're trolling? Because the pattern is pretty much the same: "Look at my potato pc, i can run it 30fps (on 360p). U mad?"

One of the worst DF videos, to be honest. Just a pile of dismissive comments from a couple of graphics snobs. I think the game looks great and runs great - and it is incredibly fun to play. It does a lot of things that people usually scream for devs to do, like day/night cycle with good looking global illumination, great shadowing, translucent foliage, volumetrics, cloth sims, physics objects, enemies glide and ragdoll nicely when you shoot them down from a roof. Overall lighting can look sublime during midday, dusk and dawn (only night is a bit meh). There's a ton of detailed characters with unique, well textured outfits.

The DF people just go 'nah' doesn't run on potato PC. Looks like crap.

It's a joy to play on a good PC. And it's a game that takes a little while to really get going. I didn't start to really appreciate it until I was a good deal into the Yokohama map after several hours. Then I started to truly appreciate everything the game is doing.

It's not the hottest rendering tech on the planet. But the game looks really good to me.

@ko

I'm not happy with the video either.
(I've taken back my initial “thumbs up” for the video)

a) YES, the game needs further optimization

b) the game runs perfectly for me at 1080p (RTX 5080) and maximum settings and RT with a stable 120 FPS (FG is disabled).

Before that, I achieved equally high frame rates on a 3090 with FSR Framegen mod,
without it was 70 FPS.

The problem is that the game needs exactly 120 FPS to run smoothly.

In the end, the game runs better than Monster Hunter Wilds,
which actually looks a lot worse.

Here's the console port video they done a year ago

To sum it up their perception on the game is still exactly the same for the pc port

I was having framerate and texture issues in heavy areas like the pleasure district and kyoto map but then I upgraded to 32gb ram (just capacity) and everything goes smooth with no texture pop-ins or at least from what i can see. I have a hunch that the game doesn't use your Vram as it should or has a serious memory problem.
