Prioritizing graphics or FPS, what does that even mean?
I'm not an FPS freak, I'm more like a graphics queen, I've always kept the FPS locked at 60fps. But what do I choose now? Do I choose the ‘prioritize FPS’ option to get a better performance or is this just an option that automatically downgrades the graphics to generate more FPS? If it's a matter of performance, then fine. Or do I keep the ‘prioritize graphics’ option? I don't like doing things blindly without knowing what these options are really modifying. Btw, my problem in the game isn't really performance, but temperatures. Since this last patch, the game has been using around 50% GPU and sometimes almost 75% CPU, raising temperatures to extremely high levels.

if u choose prioritize fps, the resolution dynamically changes to try to maintain ur preferred fps target.

if u choose prioritize graphics, ur resolution wont change, but ur fps mite drop in tough scenes or areas.

as far as temperatures go, ur fine as long as u dont thermal throttle. cpus r designed to run up to 95c before they throttle performance to lower temps. its a built in fail safe. as long as u didnt try to push an unsafe overclock, ur fine. its normal.

lower temps usually means smoother performance, but high temps r fine.

Tks for the explanation. Mayne I'll keep the prioritize graphics, perhaps, but the temps are scary anyway, I have a new laptop and it's really scary seeing these temps, even if its normal for CPUs, idk
I'm like 99% certain that "Prioritise FPS" just turns the grass density setting down to low and that's it.
from what i understood, if you choose prioritize graphics, it will always use the graphics settings you selected. if you choose prioritize FPS, it will "dynamically" use lower graphics settings (i think even lower than lowest options) if you arent getting high enough FPS

to be fair, its completely expected for laptops to be even hotter than desktops due to how compressed it all is. i wouldnt worry too much, especially if u dont experience bad performance.

i suggest every laptop owner undervolt their cpu to lower temps overall tbh. in fact maybe that should be the standard advice for all modern cpus, since they seem to all be shipped at borderline max performance.

for wat its worth, my cpu is chillin at 60c or less most times, so i dunno wat could be the issue here wit everybodys cpu temps. i think its either laptop users or user error.

Hmm, it makes sense, in this case I could chose prioritize fps because my fps are always 60, I'm not having lots of issues with that, but idk

I know that about laptops. I should learn how to undervolt my CPU, maybe I'll try it later when I have some guts to do it ahaha
The problem with Rise of the Ronin is that it's not using the power of the GPU and is instead stressing the CPU. I'm playing AC Shadows on high settings and my CPU doesn't go above 60ºC, as well as all the other games I have, it just happens with Rise of the Ronin, and that's just not normal.

wat cpu u got?

n yea, i dont kno how ac shadows is... i dont plan to ever play it... but theres mad npcs in rise of ronin pretty much at all times... plus all these small objects wit their own physics... individual grass blades, etc... it makes perfect sense it would stress the cpu.

some games r cpu intensive, some gpu intensive, some both. thats how it is.

Means that this people don't know what to with a PC, it's the worst port I played on my whole life.

AC Shadows has a lot of very active NPCs and animals, and you can break almost everything that comes your way, you can cut vegetation and even fabrics that can be cut in different directions, so by this logic it would be cooking my CPU too, but it's not. Ronin is just badly optimized, the graphics are beautiful but they're not graphics that match 2024 standards, so at least the performance should be much better, I've played many games and ports all my life and I've never seen something so badly optimized.

They should stop with exclusives and just launch stuff globally so they would make the game for PC as well from the beginning and not ‘converting’ to PC later. Despite I heard that the game is running poorly on PS5 as well

AC Shadows has worse characters, worse writing, worse combat, worse VA, more bloat than Ronin (and Ronin is already a bloated AC style game), single player battlepasses and WoW glowtsick MTX gear sets. Graphics and being much more polished are the only reasons to get AC Shadows over this.

Don’t make my post about your biases pls, I’m not talking about that.
