Ridiculous difficulty spike
So I'm in act 3 I think(kyoto) and I unlocked the dojo after defeating Hajime saito.
I'm trying to duel people I've missed like Soji and their combos and the damage they deal is insane. If feels like I'm weaker than the time I started the game.

Am I underleveled or something ?

TBH it surely depends on the weapon style you are using etc, I can defeat most of them with polearm(I think it is the strongest weapon) but what I'm talking about is that their relentless agression and the damage they deal seems too much at this point. Some dudes won't even let you heal and can take 3/4 of your hp if they catch you.

I'm not even sure if level matters in the dojo (like, literally, I don't know). I pretty much settled for any victory at all on anyone that mattered for combat style progression during my initial Twilight run. On Midnight, I've gotten master in all of the solo dojo duels though, and I'm only about a 3rd of the way through Midnight, so it doesn't seem like the the late game bosses are scaled to late midnight level, at the very least.

That said, I don't recall anyone without poison or burn wrecking my HP bar particularly fast, though I pretty much never eat more than a couple hits at a time.

Notably, Midnight does unlock a new skill grid that allows you to put points into straight stat bonuses though (but they're not huge, if you compare them to your overall stats), so that may or may not matter.

Wait til you unlock midnight difficulty, and try some of the ally missions
you haven't seen difficulty yet

There's a big difficulty gap between Act 3 bosses and the ones in act 1 and 2, they also become damage sponges at some point
Some of the enemy stances are pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and you can't fight them like others. You just have to find a way to cheese them.
I hate three fight in particular:
- the guy that jumps around with his spear with the skill to break your camera whenever he does
- Kusaka or whatever this twin sword bastard is called, with his instant red dash attack, WHICH HE DOES THREE TIMES IN A ROW WHEN HE IS LOW ON HEALTH
- kid with fists. He is so damn annoying to fight, dear lord. Not hard, ANNOYING

I have a tank build that spam medicine and fire stones. Its technically doable if youre having issues with the normal gameplay. That said Dojo fights are more about skills and parrying.

Make sure your gear lvl is near your actual lvl, easy to forget to update if you've saved and are playing with a custom look...

I played a couple of hours in Kyoto, looked at my stats screen and I had 43 Skill points spare lol...

I usually have problem with red charge attacks from a distance. It's near impossible to get their timing right. Like the blade twin fight in ACt 3, he charges at you, gets near you and grabs and chucks you into air. Never been able to parry that, not even once.
