Still making backups every save and checking if the files overwrite...
Rise of The Ronin gives you I think 50 different manual save slots. If a game gives me multiple save slots to use I will always stagger out saves. I'll play it for an hour or whatever then Manual Save to Slot 1, continue playing make a save in Slot 2, and so on.
I do this in case something goes wrong, corrupted save data, I make a wrong decision, or whatever the case may be. I feel like games, especially bigger games are just too unreliable to rely on a single save whether it be a single manual save or auto save.
