Don't forget to use fire/poison/paralysis and other items. Status elements deal good damage
So far total spent 105 hours
Higher difficulty makes the enemies more aggressive. More aggressive, requires faster responses/better understanding of the combat system. Just like with Nioh, the higher difficulty is designed for you to use all the tools at your disposal and in this case, it is actual tools, not magic and ninpo+tools. I watched a guy try to do way of the nioh with nothing but melee and raged out at the first Fu yokai because the thing was so lightning fast without paralysis lol.
the importance of the core mechanics goes higher, on easier difficulties you can often brute force things
obviously it can also become too tedious if the devs don't balance it well
who's the boss u're talking about?
When the combat system is a glorified quick time event, adding more health to enemies and reducing the length of your attack turns just makes the combat more tedious.
It's not harder cuz it takes longer.
If there's no structural changes then I don't bother playing hard modes.
I still haven't found a game I'd play on the highest difficulty, just because they only increase enemy stats and decrease player stats. I'm not interested in unbalanced economy games.
Enemies have a bit more HP and hit harder, but you also hit hard, so it evens out. IT's the aggressiveness that is the draw to me. Why have a 567 damage great sword and 1400 physical attack if you two shot something? Twilight fights are back and forth and require knowledge of your opponents, especially in the dojo. Anyone can play on any difficulty they like, but you definitely have all the tools to deal with any of them.
I don't use greatswords, but if I do, I expect them to kill humans without armor in 1 hit cuz big metal crushes human skull. It's basic rps.
I'd rather play with no Ui, and have enemies die in few hits while assuming every hit I take is lethal, than feeling like I'm fighting marble with wooden sticks.
Sadly, only Ubisoft adds controls for difficulty; in Valhalla I was able to balance the game so it was almost lethal outcome for both player and enemies. Any weapon strike to the head kills, so the difficulty becomes the startups of attacks and managing the mobs when 1 arrow to the head is lethal.
I prefer that to spending 10 minutes in a quick time event.
Like I said, it's all choice and I'd expect you to die from a bear hug from the giant sumo wrestlers, but it is a game lol. It's not reality.
