CPU temp extremely high
This is the first game on my Ryzen 7700 that makes the CPU temperature immediately go through the roof.

I've played Monster Hunter Wilds and Avowed on this at max settings and my CPU never went above 72 degrees. This game immediately skyrockets my CPU to 85-88 degrees. I've never heard my CPU fan so loud. Strangely the NVidia stats only show the CPU usage at 30-40%.

This is just running at high settings, 1440p, no RT and DLSS at quality on my 7700 / 4070 rig.

Is there some in game setting I can turn down so my CPU isn't cooking?

Years ago, Intel messed up their survey chip for heat monitoring in some of their chipsets. The 7700 was notorious for this, sometimes showing it reading 100c, even when the damn thing was 41c. Given your heat raises and drops rather rapidly, and isn't "Sitting" at 83. I'd wager those are projected numbers, not the actual degree, because unless you have liquid nitrogen in your computer, you aren't raising and lowing 10-20c every few seconds.

I'm talking about a Ryzen 7 7700 chip. Sorry should have clarified that

However, the Ronin process is still running in the task manager taking up about 2-3% cpu. My CPU temp stays at about 78-80 degrees as well. As soon as I manually kill the Ronin process my CPU temp immediately drops to about 40 degrees.
I can't reproduce this at all. Are you on Windows 10 or 11?

Windows 11

Same here.
CPU fan is constantly above 90%, which is very annoying. This never happened with any other game I've played on my current system.
RTX 5080, I7 13700k, 32 GB ram, Windows 11

My i9 9960x reaches 60° so far. Not noticing any mad temps myself but it be only played for an hour

Game was consistently at 60c on my 14900kf until I got to yamashita, then it cranks up to 75c.
Ryzen 5 5600, highest I've seen it hit so far is 75-76 in the Yokohama Pleasure District, which is hotter than I think I've ever seen it get before.

I'm on a 12700k paired with a 4090 and the cpu is running at 55-60 c. Similar results in MH Wilds, but that game causes temps to spike a little higher when loading into areas. If you have a newer cpu and the temps are getting that high, fix your cooling (fans/curves etc) or voltage as something is not right.

12700k is an 75W CPU .. what heat you want on that ,, lel ,, tell after you have 13900k 250-300W CPU
They used an engine used to make action games in small areas to make an open world game (Katana engine), same problem that Capcom has with the RE engine. I think it calculates the physics of too large areas all at once and the engine does not have a system to manage it intelligently

7950X3D here, about same temps in other games but this one it stays 81-82C, doesn't go over. -30 on all cores and 360 AIO.

I just noticed that the temps only go high whenever the game pauses and during NPC dialogs. It's fine during actual gameplay

You seem to not understand what you are talking about at all. It doesn’t change the fact that you need appropriate cooling and settings for whatever cpu you use. You can push any cpu to high temps with enough load and overclocking.
Try setting Low-Latency mode to Ultra in Nvidia control panel, for Nvidia card users. That might reduce CPU load a bit.
