Rise of the Ronin

Rise of the Ronin

View Stats:
CPU temp extremely high
This is the first game on my Ryzen 7700 that makes the CPU temperature immediately go through the roof.

I've played Monster Hunter Wilds and Avowed on this at max settings and my CPU never went above 72 degrees. This game immediately skyrockets my CPU to 85-88 degrees. I've never heard my CPU fan so loud. Strangely the NVidia stats only show the CPU usage at 30-40%.

This is just running at high settings, 1440p, no RT and DLSS at quality on my 7700 / 4070 rig.

Is there some in game setting I can turn down so my CPU isn't cooking?

My 14700kf is also heating up, it reached 83 degrees

Try setting a framerate limit in the NVIDIA/AMD GPU control panel

The game intensively uses processor resources, so they heat up a lot

9800x3d only hitting 55c. The perks of having a custom loop cooling

On AMD CPUs there are a couple of things you can do if you're concerned about the temperature. You can use Curve Optimizer in Ryzen Master to undervolt it which leads to lower temps in general, or set a lower thermal throttle limit in BIOS to whatever temperature you want it to max out at.

The problem is not the processors but the game, no game I've played so far on the 14700kf has reached 83 degrees, even more so since I undervolt

also getting just under 50c with my 9800x3d ,using a aio 240m .

You're right, the game should not tax the CPU so much. The devs seem to be looking into things based on the latest post. Until then these are a couple of things we have control over.

Have a 7800x3d 82c with curve -20 and a 360 aio every game that i play 50-60c so stop talking its not the game

My Ryzen 3700x has normal temps. Check your thermal paste for starters.

I'm on a 12700k paired with a 4090 and the cpu is running at 55-60 c. Similar results in MH Wilds, but that game causes temps to spike a little higher when loading into areas. If you have a newer cpu and the temps are getting that high, fix your cooling (fans/curves etc) or voltage as something is not right.

yep same issue as mine, only this game quite problematic for me
with AMD R7 5700X use ryzen stock cooler

If i set 120 FPS, the temp increase 80c-82c, then i set 60 fps the result quite weird sometimes i got 74-80c instead

A very weird thing about this game is that if I quit it from the main menu it returns me to desktop.

However, the Ronin process is still running in the task manager taking up about 2-3% cpu. My CPU temp stays at about 78-80 degrees as well. As soon as I manually kill the Ronin process my CPU temp immediately drops to about 40 degrees.

There is something really strange going on with this game.

(I can play Cyberpunk and Monster Hunter Wilds on this same machine at 1440p with high settings and CPU temp never goes about 68 degrees)

I can't reproduce this at all. Are you on Windows 10 or 11?

I recorded a video for you to see what the temperature is like at 14700kf
