Attention. PC Port impressions are extremely negative.
Attention.

The PC port seems to be a disaster.
Just read this tech review. We're talking about a 5090 here, currently the most powerful GPU by far.

https://wccftech.com/rise-of-the-ronin-is-yet-another-disappointing-pc-port-from-koei-tecmo/

In addition, it doesn't even come close to 30 frames on the Steam Deck in any settings.

Not surprising, it runs exactly same as Nioh, Nioh 2, Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long.
I don't know what people expected, they keep stretching same engine for past 10+ years pasts its breaking point, making it run even worse than it did while also not even delivering visuals adequate to how it runs.

Their games are equivalent of fast food, vastly enjoyable but everything technical about them is bad.
Nioh2 runs much better actually.

I never said a 2060 is always going to be exactly 400% faster than PS 4. Sometimes it could be 350% faster or maybe 405% faster etc. the same could be said when comparing a 4090 to the PS 5 GPU so my point stands. The person I was replayign to was speaking as if the 2060 was a lowly GPU. it is not when compared to the PS 4.

I asked for proof of this game being well optimized and the reqs being justified. You have yet to provide proof. You yourself said the AI in this is toned down compared to Nioh 2 which is a PS 4 game. The most likely cause for this games huge CPU reqs is the engine not being suited for open world.

The problem with Ai in this game as opposed to Dynasty Warriors for example is that to have meaningful engagement with the Ai it must be individual assets running individual Ai logic.

In musous, Ai is done in a hierarchical manner, meaning all characters are rendered and processed as 1, which allows the CPU to manage hundreds of characters because they're actually 5-6 hierarchical Ai components.

In action rpgs however, every character is its own individual, which means the CPU has to process all the logics individually, and the GPU has to process all their rendering individually. The CPU will bottleneck if there's more than 9 Ai moving (the combat logic is basically free and does not impact performance).

The problem is having a dozen of individuals moving (updating their transform in the level) on every frame, on top of a day/night cycle (updatin light transform on every frame), on top of cloth simulation which is completely CPU based (unreal engine recently introduced experimental features to handle clohth simlations with particles so the GPU can handle them, leaving room for the CPU).

In other words, when you press forward th CPU updates your character's transform on every frame, but for individual Ais the CPU has to press forward on every frame and update the results on every frame.

This Ai moving problem is present in all open worlds. In Ubisoft's engine, the NPC Ai is handled in a hierarchical manner, which means having tons of pedestrians that cannot interact with the player in any way other than receiving damage (bumping them is a form of damage, they just don't apply any value to it). Notice how soldiers or any other Ai that has individual logic is very few and far between.
In AC games there are patrols of fightable npc's around every corner in populated areas.

could be like monster hunter wilds where older GPUs seem to run it far better.
So a 3070 for instance outperforms a 4070? You sure it's just not newer GPU owners having higher expectations?

Because it is now the steam discounts after a lot of thought i decided to get star wars out laws instead of rise of the ronin and will get ronin later.

i have 6700xt 12 gb red devl and still ru all games maxed 1440p 60 fps. now with fsr ihave better perfomance in games thsan in 2021 when i got it.! i odjnt worry. but those with rtx 2000 or older yes they might be forced to play it on medium or high instead of max 1440p 60 fps that i will play it.

Well, like ANY game they released in the last years.

You buy Team Ninja games on PC only with the intention to support them and their families.

As someone new to Team Ninja games who just picked up the new NG2 black release, Team Ninja may want to change this perception in 2025.

High end PC cards are more ubquitous today than before, which means a higher proportion of customers will be peeved to see these unoptimized, full priced games - and Team Ninja has now done this twice in just the first quarter of 2025. I returned NG2 black after 20 minutes using a 4090. Plenty of other optimized games out there, and my library will just have one fewer ninja game at the point.

No, just no. High end PC cards are NOT more ubiquitous. The current leader on charts is the 4060 still. That was lower mid and not really justified for that position when it launched.

The 060 series cards have ALWAYS been the ones most users have and should be the target point for playability purposes. the xx90 class cards make up less than 1% of userbase and always have. Artificial scarcity, AI farms, and scalpers have done wonders to misrepresent just how in-demand those cards actually are for gamers.

for first tutorial and ship was fine on my 4060ti and i911900, mostly all high + dllss on quality. will see how it goes in open world.

Open world performance is a dumpster fire.

I'm running a fairly mid range rig here - Intel Core i7-11700F and 3070 - and fps dips down to 30-40 in some areas of the open world while being stable 60 (locked) in others. It's pretty okish in the wilderness but get anywhere with more geometry and/or npcs and it plumets.

With framegen it's stable and playable, but too unpredictable to risk playing without.

One other thing that bothers me greatly is how bad the sea looks. It's ugly and smears in the distance without framegen, and with framegen it gets so bad you acutally can get seasick (pun intended).

This really needs to be fixed because it borders on runing an otherwise fantastic experience.
Kriss_Hunter_TTV 11 de mar. às 12:37
With my RTX 4070ti on 1440p on ultra with RT on ultra using DLSS(DLAA) plus FG I have about 90 fps. No drops in first 5 hours. My Pc is much stronger than recommended and game doesnt look as good as AC Valhalla or Ghost of Tsushima but its 100% playable on that card. I agree optimalization is super bad but hope it can help someone who isn't sure about purchase. Gameplaywise is great.

Fake news. The game runs quite well on 40 series cards.
This isn't true at all.

4090 here and it's a mess. Bad bait.

Stop listening to these "it runs fine for me" liars. It's been widely reported how bad it's running. There's so much misinformation in these posts.

Hey look a person with more money than sense/intelligence thinks it runs well.

Get a job and maybe you can have nice things too instead of being a bad steam troll.
