Did you mean amrita or qi(from Wo Long). Ki was stamina. Karma functions a lot like Sekiro's XP does. Once you get enough XP you convert it into skill points at a banner.
More akin to AC. You get XP from quest or missions in the open world and get XP called Karma you can convert into skill points to improve the character you create. If you die to an enemy you lose some xp to that enemy, so you have to kill that enemy to get it back.
