Reasons to get a console in 2025?
What's even left of PlayStation with this game coming to PC? Gran Turismo? Even that one might be coming as well, as it was listed in a leak. Console gaming is doomed.

Ghost of Yotei is coming out this year on PS5 exclusive.
Nah- they’ll always be people that just want to plug in a console and forget about it- but I remember a few years back Xbox started putting all their games on pc- thankfully never have to buy another Xbox. I’m a little surprised about Sony though- I was still buying PlayStations because there were always a few MUsT OwN games for it. It does seem like i may not need to buy a ps again if they keep porting everything over.
Oh- they seem to be letting come dole people use mods now- so another reason there will probably always be console people. Sometimes I use my tv as a monitor and could pretend it’s a console….a water-cooled, ginormous console.

A PC release of Demon's Souls was also part of the leak from a couple of years ago, and all of it came true, with the only ones missing being that game, Gran Turismo 7 and some VR game.

If I hadn’t already played demons on ps3 it would be VERY tempting - but even their biggest draw is a re-release. It’s fine as long as it’s their goal to just go towards selling games a-la Sega. If not- they may be surprised. But then again- last I checked they were eating much of Xbox’s losses. Not sure if Xbox ever recovered but they were WAY down last time I bothered to check.

Console gaming was "doomed" when consoles became interchangable and didn't add anything to the experience themselves.
One reason why Nintendo is still going strong. They captured both their handheld and console market. The switch itself is a feature.

The main difference between a PS5 and a SeriesX are system specs.
Picking either one of them isn't an experience anymore.
The PS5's main gimmick was the SSD which quickly turned out to not be as unique as they hoped it to be.
Xbox has its gamepass which also moved to PC.

The gig was over when consoles became generic budget PC's rather than experiences
bloodrobn and demon sauce is why I will be buying a ps5 slim at some point,
have to play those games some day.

The reason to get a console has always been either for casual gamers (the largets part of the gamer audience) or for on the side as an easy system to play games on. Exclusives are nothing but a marketing tool that people fall for, or don't. Especially nowadays when exclusives are often temporary.
I bought a ps4 only to play demons and bloodborne. I mean- demons has great replay value and I’m not sure about the ps5 version but it originally had a morality system that changed some pretty major stuff based on how light or dark you were….. so IF you had to buy a console for basically 1 game- at least it’s a game you can get crazy hours out of…
Crap i missed the bloodborne part. Yeah- as long as it won’t break the bank that’s hundreds of hours of amazingness between those 2.

Still a bit miffed that it took consoles making use of nvme drives before games on PC were designed to make use of the speed.

Imho, it does make *some* sense.
PC's have more freedom when it comes to hardware selection and how that hardware is used. A PC HDD was always faster than a console HDD (or even flash drive for some reason...). And since HDD's were significantly bigger and cheaper, there really never was that big of a need for a switch.

On consoles, it was the only real avenue for change.
It was much easier to push SSD's with consoles than with PC's.
