Do not buy this game, if you love Team Ninja

If you love Team Ninja and their games, do not buy this game.

Why?

Rise of the Ronin was made as the new flagship IP for the company and was supposed to be the new standard for the future of Team Ninja games, it had massive funding and the sales were expected to be 5m+ copies sold on PS5 alone. Team Ninja betrayed their core audience and went for the casual market, made the game open-world and added super easy and easy difficulty modes to appeal to casuals. What happened? In the launch week Rise of the Ronin was one of their fastest selling games, but in the long run it had no legs and sold worse than Nioh 1.

If this game was a success, it would have ruined and killed Team Ninja for good. Thank God it was a massive failure. Don't forget that Team Ninja has a tendency to try and sellout (Remember original Ninja Gaiden 3 which was an interactive movie and almost killed the franchise?), but so far, every time they have tried that, the games were failures.

If you love NINJA GAIDEN and NIOH, do not buy this game, this game was supposed to destroy that which you love. It is very important that this game continues to be a financial failure, so that future Team Ninja games remain of high quality and aren't boring open-world garbage with casualized difficulty settings.

Even Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is far superior to this boring open-world slop!

Go buy Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Ninja Gaiden 4 or Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty instead, and in the future Nioh 3.

I'm not sure how you can make game worse than WL. It was that huge level of success so they had discounted Season Pass at the very same day first DLC came out. This could be also a mess, but hopefully game is better than WL

Your words were pretty clear as to why it was not really successful. "Sold on PS5" exclusivity is not good for gaming at all. I just asked my friend the other day if Rise of Ronin was coming to PC and to my surprise logging on today and seeing this? I mean, it's a pre-order.

Adding easier modes for accessibility isn't a bad thing and nioh in general is an easy game on normal difficulty because of the way the game scales. Only the people dedicated enough see how hard it can truly be on way of the nioh, but not a lot of people wanna go through the game 4 times to see it lol.

Will finish my Nioh2 run someday as well, played half the game and uninstalled for reason I don't even remember now.

Coming from PS5 Pro, I already pre-ordered the game on Steam. It is so much better than Assassin's Creed Shadows! And also excited for Ninja Gaiden Ragebound as well as Ninja Gaiden 4.

Team Ninja's 3 games that came out after Nioh 2 were pretty casual. So you are a little late already. The switch already happened long time ago.

I like more complex games and a bit sad Team Ninja went for much simpler gameplay, but gameplay they make still murders any competition regardless.
