Help with error code 0xC0000005 ? Won't start?
Hello, I would be massively greatfull if anyone knows how to make the game boot up if you have an error code code 0xC0000005?

Here are my specs:
AMD 3970X 32 core / 64 threads
DDR4 3400 128GB
7900 XTX 24GB
NVMe 990 Gen4 Samsung 4TB(multiple drives)
Windows 11 latest update
3x 4K screens 50 inch

Basically if I start the game it just pops up a small window that says:

Rise of the Ronin - Application Error

An unexpected error has occurred.
This application will been terminated.
code: 0xC0000005
address: 0x00007FF776BEB18A

The game looks awesome and I refuse to return it, I am dying to play it if anyone has any ideas I would be very great full. Note, no other games causes me any issues this is really weird to be honest.

Thanks in advance

Update: Note - update Ver. 1.09.0.1 (03/14/2025) fixed the issue for me and I no longer have to disable half of my cores in my BIOS as a work around, thank you Devs for the new patch!

Same error here on Windows 11, Intel 10980XE CPU, 128 GB DDR3, 3080. First game I've purchased in a long time that just immediately crashes on launch.

Damn that sucks, I wonder if you and I have too large of a memory pool and that causes issues? As a dev that makes no sense what so ever to be honest.

My GPU has 24GB and yours is a 10 12 GB card so it can't be a GPU issues.

You do have 36 threads so it could be that, I have 64 threads. For the hell of it I am going to disable half of them in my Bios and will post back. I tried ProcessLasso and set the launch affinity to 8 cores and that did nothing, maybe the process starts so fast that it just doesn't take or there is some internal check.

If it works I will let you know.

[ Solved ] it is 100% if you go over 32 threads, I turned off SMT and the game booted up, anything over 32 threads bricks the game. You have to do a BIOS mod on your cores/threads and get the threads below = to 32 threads, an CPU affinity mod does NOT work.

I really hope they fix this cause I use all those threads daily for dev work and don't want to change my BIOS for one game.

@BUBBA GRUMP, yeah it's because your thread count is 36, your going to have to go into your BIOS and see if you can disable some Core banks or just disable hyper threading or SMT what ever it is now a days called(when it takes a physical core and splits it into two threads).

It's mental we got to do this but the moment you go to 32 threads or lower the game will boot up and 100% work. So in task manger if you look at the the Performance tab make sure the Logical processors does not go over the number 32. Having said that we should all ask for a real fix so we don't have to nurf our CPUs, cause no other game does this and it is 2025.

Disabled hyper threading in the bios .
Rechecked the logical processors it's now set at 18. Tried the game and it launched with no issues.
Do u think this a temporary solution until they fix the issue.

Question will diabling hyper threading will I loose pc performance.
valcan_s 12 MAR a las 2:01 p. m.
@BUBBA GRUMP yeah, this is only a temporary solution for sure. I am running it at 32 logical cores since I can got to 64 so you could get a lot more performance if you could not cut things in half(in your case and it is CPU heavy). I generally never turn of the SMT / hyper threading the benefit is too good and you don't want to lose half of your threads.

Personally I am only turning it off(SMT, in your case hyper threading) when I want to play Rise of the Ronin till they fix it for I don't want to loose performance in everything else I do on my comp and play.

Fingers crossed they fix it soon cause we don't want to nurf our CPU like this since we paid for those threads.

[Solved] for me too by turning off Hyperthreading in BIOS. Down to 18 cores, but game is finally running, and not disappointed with how it looks. Thanks so much for the tip. I hope they are aware of this bug.

Awesome, good stuff! Nice, yeah I think it looks awesome as well, it's not Wukong grade but I still think it looks very nice. Honestly some made it out to look like junk so I was really surprised it looks so good.

Yeah I really hope they fix it properly in tomorrows patch. On my mobo when I do such a change I have to restart my comp twice since it sort of remembers the past setting for some reason(I think I got a fall back bios feature for OC etc and I can't disable it). It be really cool if we can use all our logical cores, fingers crossed it drops tomorrow.

Huh that is really weird, try it out today after the patch for it 100% fixed the issue for me and at 64 threads I am cooking and running the game with no issues!

Fingers crossed your end is fixed as well, today's patch was solid and fixed everything for me
