I heard the game's engine is difficult to mod for some reason. Hopefully we'll still see mods for this game

FromSoftware uses a proprietary engine and we've seen some interesting mods in games like Sekiro no?

Nioh 2 had mods. We will get them here as well, in time.

nioh 2 isn't on katana engine
I just want that weapon switching tech that I think GameBreakerGod had discovered back. I dunno why, it wasn't hurting anything, but they eventually patched it out.

I don't know if something like that could be fixed with a mod, it's just something I wish the game still had.

That's sad, one of the reasons I bought the game is because I imagined that on PC there would be super fun mods: mods to improve the graphics, mods to add clothes, maybe skills or just play with anime characters. Now I'm finding out that the engine (even though it's old and looks very simplistic) is almost unmoddable. Sad
Only mods id want for this is a few more clothing items (like a fully repaired conical straw hat and not the damaged one) and being able to unlock the like 1 or 2 weapon styles that you cant obtain but can use with the ally that has them

A)That took over a decade to reverse engineer
B)It took decade to reverse engineere fueled by hordes of diehard end of the spectrum autistic fans of the series.

KT/TN games simply do not pull same crowd and not in numbers enough to have same ongoing effort. Some people on Xentax made tools for baseline unpacking of the engine, realized it's an inbred spaghetti monster of an engine with more chromosomes than 64 bit architecture can safely hold in memory and gave up on developing those tools to repacking, much less usable GUI stages.

So yeah, no - not gonna happen anytime soon.

nope, the katana engine is an overhauled engine and it's much harder to mod, that's why wo long has no mods

The Katana engine has existed in some form since Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but they only actually gave it a name with DW9 (the first game to use it.) Nioh, Nioh 2, Strangers of Paradise and Wo Long all use this engine, just heavily modified.

Here's the spooky thing, though: Dynasty Warriors Origins uses this engine and that game runs exceptionally well, so there IS a revision of this engine out there that isn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
They're not actual mods, but cheats like adding skill points are already up on WeMod. I'm sure we'll see some real mods eventually.

Blame the team, DWs are done by Omega Team all of the poorly running ones are done by Team Ninja.

I think it's not just that, but OmegaForce and Team Ninja are using different revisions of this engine. OmegaForce is also probably the actual team developing the engine while Team Ninja is just utilizing it.
