・Added option ”Dynamic Adjustment of FPS”
　When turned on, the set FPS will change dynamically according to performance for a consistent gameplay experience.
・Optimization improvements for rendering to reduce overall VRAM usage
・Optimization improvements on GPU performance for Ambient Occlusion and Upscaling
・Added an error check notice for save data issues
　A warning message will now appear when the save file failed to save in the inteded location.
・Adjusted the game to automatically pause when the Steam overlay is opened

■Bug fixes
・Fixed an issue with game mode "Prioritize FPS", where graphics settings would change rapidly in a short amount of time.
・Fixed an issue where CPU load increased significantly when Audio Output settings were set to "Surround" or "3D Audio Effects", while the spatial sound was disabled in Windows sound settings.
・Fixed an issue where the game would fall to slow motion during time progression, when using the Pocket Watch or after restoring Public Order
・Fixed visual noise issues during a specific cut scene
・Fixed an issue where the game would get stuck loading after restoring public order
・Fixed an issue where the game would occasionally crash when switching languages during gameplay
・Fixed an issue where NPCs would appear without their heads being displayed
・Fixed other minor bugs.

We are currently looking into and investigating reported save data issues for "Rise of the Ronin" steam edition.

We have found cases where changing the Windows Security Settings would solve the issues regarding save data.

Check Windows Security settings
Please check and change the settings per instructions below to see if the issue is resolved.
1. Windows settings > Privacy and Security (Update and Security on windows 10) > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection
2. Click on Manage settings under Virus & threat protection settings
3. Click on Manage Controlled folder access, under Controlled foldeer access
4. If "Controlled folder access" is on, click on Allow an app through Controlled folder access > Add an allowed app > Browse all apps, and add Ronin.exe
* The install location of "Ronin.exe" can be found through right clicking "Rise of the Ronin" on the steam library, or to click on Manage > Browse local files.

Check if Save data is saved to a different location
There are cases where the game would store save data directly on the "drive the game has been installed to", if security measures of the system blocked the normal save.
For example, if the game is installed to the D drive, the save data would be stored in the folder location as follows: D:\Savedata

Please try relocating the folder above, to the intended folder location:
\Users\user-name\Documents\KoeiTecmo\Ronin\Savedata

■System Updates and Adjustments
・Added option ”Graphics Mode”
　This setting allows you to choose between "Prioritize Graphics" and "Prioritize FPS", for graphic settings in the game.
　When set to "Prioritize FPS," the game will automatically adjust graphics settings to maintain performance if the game falls to slow-motion.
・Adjusted Graphics Settings Performance
　Adjustments have been made to optimize settings that were particularly demanding on performance, which were the main causes of frame rate drops.
・Added an additional location for backup save data
　In case of any save data related issues, we have created another back up location for save data.

Rename the BACKUP.BIN file of the save data you wish to recover, to SAVEDATA.BIN
Replace the SAVEDATA.BIN file in the Save Data Location with the file you have just renamed.

■Bug fixes
・Added a repair process to reapply the "Camera" for save data that has encountered an issue with missing the "Camera".
　Once the new patch update is applied, the Camera will be reapplied upon starting gameplay or when you return to the Longhouse.
・Fixed an issue where on rare occasions loading will continue indefinitely when using the menu or when starting cut scenes.
・Fixed an issue where loading will continue indefinitely under specific circumstances
・Fixed an issue where when using the DualSense controller, the game would crash on controller vibration, on rare occasions.
・Fixed an issue where in certain stages and circumstances, the textures of the background would look blurred.
・Improved stuttering issues on specific stages and circumstances
・Fixed an issue where performance load increased during specific cut scenes
・Fixed an issue where crashes would occur
・Fixed other minor bugs.

We are currently looking into and investigating reported save data issues for "Rise of the Ronin" steam edition.

In the mean time, please try methods below for potential fixes:

・The issue may be caused when the "Documents" folder is set for file sharing.
Check whether one of the file sharing services below has been set. If so, turn it off and check if the issue is resolved.

・ Retrieving and using back up save data
Save data Location:
\Documents\KoeiTecmo\Ronin\Savedata\(Steam Account ID)
Each save will be stored in the following folders:
Manual save data: "SAVEDATA**" folder (** is number between 00~49)
Auto save data: "SAVEDATAAUTO" folder

Rename the BACKUP.BIN in the folder of the save you wish to recover to SAVEDATA.BIN, and replace the old file.

・Activating Steam Cloud could restore the save when running the game
If prompted to choose which save file to keep, we recommend to rename the save data and store it somewhere before proceeding with using the save from Steam Cloud.

Settings that heavily effect performance have been adjusted within the preset.
You can manually increase individual settings.
・Added ”Recommended” preset
The recommended preset is the most suitable based on the specifications of your PC.
・Adjusted name of setting "FPS Limit" to "FPS"
This option will lock the FPS to the set number. We have adjusted the wording of the setting for better accuracy.
We have also added supplementary explanations to highlight its impact to performance.

■ Bug fixes
・Fixed an issue where the game would crash on launch, for CPUs with 33 threads and above
・Fixed an issue where the game would get stuck loading in specific situations
・Fixed stuttering issues in specific stages and circumstances
・Fixed an issue where interacting with the Veiled Edge Banner under specific circumstances would lead to crashes
・Fixed an issue where inputting directional keys when receiving "Midnight" rewards in the Testament of the Soul would lead to getting trapped in the menu
・Fixed an issue where selecting OPTIONS rapidly at the title screen would disable further input

We are currently investigating reported issues for "Rise of the Ronin" Steam edition.

When set to the "Ultra" preset, there are instances where the following issues occur, regardless of PC specifications:
・FPS drops and slow performance
・Model rendering issues
Changing the preset to ”High" or "Standard" may resolve these issues.

Game runs in slow motion when "FPS Limit" is set to 120
Changing "FPS Limit" to 60 may resolve this issue.

We are currently preparing a patch, which will be released soon, to fix or improve some of these issues.
