First Mission - Out of range

Hi, I'm new to the game and being really dumb. In the fist mission I get to the sniping position and can find the target but my sniper rifle can't shoot anywhere near far enough. I'm on the easiest difficulty but the aiming dot is well off the bottom of the screen. I've watched videos on youtube and it doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone else. Please help.

Doesn't work when you're 1400m away from a target. None of the scope options show a red dot. And trying to get closer causes a 'return to mission area' warning.

Literally can't shoot far enough on the very first map. Great design, devs.

1. Make sure you're playing on marksman difficulty.
2. Check whether you've disabled the red dot option from the menu.
3. Check out your scope and ensure whether its an extreme long range one.
4. Continuously press E to increase the elevation of your scope until it reaches 1400 meters. If your target is near 1400 meters you'll be able to see the red dot for the precise distance.

FYI you can shoot upto 2000 meters with max elevation of 1500 meters and lowest zoom.

If you do not aim right, it won't appear. It only appears when your shot is lined up. It changes position depending on the focused target distance.

AGAIN, I did all that. No red dot. Literally spent 15 minutes trying to line shots up in every way.

Nothing.
