How do I store cocoa and other items?

I want to add chocolate recipes to my menu, but my tree only grows one cocoa bean a day, and I can't figure out how to store them. I wish the tutorial were longer, it seems to just sort of stop and not explain a lot except for the basics of cooking. I'm having to figure a lot out on my own, and it's very confusing.

It will grow one cocoa bean at a time, but when that cocoa bean is used up in a recipe, it will grow another (assuming the tree doesn't need to be watered).

If you pick the cocoa bean and put it on a table or something, it will not grow another cocoa bean until that one is either used in a recipe or thrown away in the trash.

Another way to store your cocoa is putting it in the rail cart, but you can only store one cocoa as of now.
