The new content update for Lemon Cake is now available! Additionally, Lemon Cake will be 20% off this week!

This update includes a whole new room you’ll be able to visit… Your very own bedroom! After all your hard work around the bakery, Miss Bonbon’s finally been able to open up her old bedroom for you to rest. You’ll find it in the attic, just above the kitchen. But just like the bakery, the bedroom is in a bit of disrepair and will need to be cleaned up!

You’ll be able to purchase upgrades for the bedroom through a new skill tree, which includes a lot of cosmetic updates like curtains, paintings and plants. There are also three pets you can now adopt and keep in your room… And you might even find out some new secrets about Miss Bonbon in the library up there!

Hi everyone! I’m happy to share with you the first content update for Lemon Cake!

This update includes a new character, Inspector Mustache! An old nemesis of Miss Bonbon, the bakery inspector, comes back to make sure you’re keeping the place clean… And bug free!

With the inspector comes a new bug catching minigame, where you’ll have to catch as many bugs as you can around the bakery in a minute. In exchange for your help, Inspector Mustache will pay you back for each bug you catch! This minigame allows you to quickly gain gold, which will be especially helpful in the early game!

You’ll also be able to wear 3 new hats in the game: A sprout hat, bunny hat and hamster hat!

In addition to this, I’ve also made a few other fixes to the game based on recent feedback:

• The magic broom now counts for the “Swing the broom” achievement.
  
• You can add multiple of the same item type on the rail cart.
  
• Balanced the late game XP gain to progress faster.

I’ll be starting to work on the second content update for Lemon Cake this week… The bedroom update! This will allow you to visit a new room at the end of the day, which you’ll be able to upgrade with decorations, pets and snacks! I’m currently planning on releasing it later this spring, so keep an eye out for more news about it! :)

Hi everyone! Here’s another quick patch for Lemon Cake. With this update I’ve increased the value of early pastries to help with the player progression and added the mouse clicks as additional controls to interact and sprint around the bakery. I’ve also fixed some bugs that have been reported in the last week.

• Added left mouse click to interact.
  
• Added right mouse click to sprint.
  
• Fixed a bug where not all keyboard inputs could be rebinded.
  
• Increased the value of some early pastries.
  
• Fixed a bug where the Sweet Pretzel wasn’t displayed as vegan.
  
• Bonus tip percentage can now go over 100%.
  
• Pastries placed in the display windows now sell for their full value.
  
• Prevent the player from getting stuck petting a cat at the end of the day.
  
• Highlight purchasable upgrades in the skill tree.

I’m making some really good progress on our first content update which will include a new minigame to catch bugs and earn some extra money and a new character! I think this update will be a nice addition to Lemon Cake and I expect to release it in the next few weeks.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share with you all my plans for the first content update for Lemon Cake! It will be a pretty large update so it’ll take me some time to create everything but my plan is to release it this spring!

My goal with this update is first of all to address the current “grindy” feel of the game that some of you have shared with me. At the same time, I want to add a new, different gameplay element to add some variety to Lemon Cake.

So I’ll be creating a new character… The health inspector! :D

This new character will introduce new story elements and a minigame! When the bakery gets too dirty, you'll have to catch the ants roaming around the rooms. The health inspector will give you a gold reward based on how many bugs you can catch in a minute. This minigame will give a quick burst of gold which will help (especially in the early-mid game) progress faster in the skill trees.

In addition to this, I’ll be adding a new room to the bakery! You’ll now have a bedroom in the attic above the kitchen. This new room will also have its own skill tree; however, this skill tree will not impact the bakery gameplay, which means that you won’t have to work toward these upgrades in the early game.

Instead it’ll contain decorations, snacks and pets to furnish your bedroom. This skill tree will add new things to purchase once the bakery is fully restored for players who’d like to keep playing and unlocking new elements in the late game.

So here’s a quick recap of the features you’ll find in this update!

Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for playing Lemon Cake and giving me your feedback on the game!

I just released a patch for Lemon Cake that focuses on balancing the cost of some upgrades and reducing the frequency of a few tasks (like sweeping spills and adding firewood). I realized it took a bit too long to progress in the skill tree, so I hope this update will improve the flow of the game!

Here’s a quick list of the changes made:

• Fixed a bug where the game sometimes froze after leveling up.
  
• Increased the character’s collision size to make it easier to reach items.
  
• Increased how long the firewood lasts (both before and after upgrading it).
  
• Reduced the kitchen spills spawn frequency.
  
• Increased the tip percentage gained from menu bonuses.
  
• Reduced the cost of some upgrades in the skill tree.
  
• Added the possibility to open the store by interacting with the front doors.

Hi everyone! I’m really excited (and a tiny bit stressed!) to share this last monthly devlog before the release of Lemon Cake!! I’ll be pretty busy in the next two weeks to finalize everything for the release on February 18th, I just hope you will all enjoy Lemon Cake!

At this point in development, I’m not working on any big features as they are all finished. January mostly consisted of bug fixing and playtesting to make sure the release goes smoothly, so I’ll keep this devlog short & sweet!


This feature was requested quite a bit during the demo, so I had to include it in the game! You’ll now be able to select which recipe you want to prepare by using a keybind instead of clicking on it. The recipes are set on 1 to 6 by default but the controls can be changed to fit your preferences.


Localization is still a work in progress at this point, I started to work on it a bit too late in development but I think I can still set it up on time for the release. If not, it’ll be added in an update soon after the initial release. The languages planned for now are English, French, Spanish, German and Portuguese. More languages might be added later on!


We’ve got achievements for Lemon Cake!! There are currently 17 achievements set up, and I might still add a few more before the release!


Better late than never! You can now save and load your progress in Lemon Cake. There are three different save files available.


While the tutorial is mostly the same from the one in the demo, I added a few more steps in it to include the new features such as cleaning the tables and sweeping spills in the kitchen!


I thought the bakery looked a bit empty at the beginning of the game, before you can build the furniture or plant trees. So I added some clutter and broken down furniture in each room. This really adds to the impression that the bakery is old and broken down at the start, and makes it even more satisfying to upgrade the rooms!

I’ve added a variety of hats to personalize your character! These includes classic options like a chef hat and a beret. You can also go for a silly look with a paper boat hat, cat ears or a stack of pancakes on your head!


As we get closer to release I’ve started to think about what could be added in Lemon Cake in future updates. The main things I’d be interested in implementing later on are different game modes and seasonal events. I think it’ll be nice to see what you all would like to have added in Lemon Cake once you start playing too, so please share your ideas with me!

Hello everyone and happy New Year! I’m happy to announce that Lemon Cake will be released on February 18!

I’ve updated the character creation system to include more options for the full release! You’ll now be able to pick between 8 hairstyles, and a variety of natural and fantasy hair colors. There are also a dozen new options for the outfit!

In addition, there are also two new categories that can be unlocked later on in the game: aprons and hats. With these upgrades, your character will look like a real baker!


Raise bees and collect honey with a new beehive in the greenhouse! Honey can be used to bake new recipes such as a honey taffy and honey macaron. Building the beehive will also increase the growth speed of the plants in the greenhouse as they’ll now get pollinated.


All pastries have now been created! I hope you’ll all enjoy the variety of sweets that I’ve prepared for the game!


Now that all the recipes are available in the game, I had to create a system to learn them over time. This can be done by gaining experience and leveling up. For each level that you gain, you’ll be able to pick one recipe to learn out of three available.

Experience is gained from doing different tasks around the bakery such as serving customers, mixing a recipe, cleaning a spill or watering plants.


This feature was probably the most requested after the demo: a moment in the morning to prepare your bakery for the day, before any customers come in! You’ll be able to open your store whenever you want, so the morning preparation time can last for as long (or as little!) as you want.

I’ve also added the time of the day to the main user interface so you can always easily see what period of the day you’re in.


With the release in six weeks, I’m now mostly focused on playtesting, balancing the game and fixing bugs. I still have a few features and quality of life updates to add, but the game is almost finished! I’m really looking forward to sharing it with you all!
