1. Jump as much as you can, especially in the midst of mobs. Jump when running through it, jump while attacking upclose. They usually hit the area in front of them or under your feet, so you'll evade many attacks.

2. Time is paramount. You can activate a tele while some of the map is unsearched and use the spawning time to run around while completing the objective. And that leads to...

3. Not fighting boss during the teleporter event. You can, if you're completely overpowered, but in other cases - run away and try to space the enemies out as much as possible, while also trimming their count and activating chests. Then finish off the remaining adds and kill the lone boss.

4. This one is up to preference, but I like searching the map from the edges, spiralling to the middle.

To give you more useful tips it would also be helpful to know what challenges you the most in this game, as well as what is your platformer and keyboard controls experience is.

The difficulty ramp up is no joke so you have to be fast. Getting to Providency by the 30~35 minutes mark guarantees an easy win. If you're still in the first stage past 5 minutes it might be worth restarting unless you got some crazy items

thank you, the thing i sturggle with the most is probably flying enemies and getting overwhelmed in general, oh and also greater wisps, i play with the ror2 control scheme

Oh, yes, they are a pain. They either die from collateral damage, reverted all atention to and targeted one by one or I just flip out an smash that 7 second pause watch just to pick them out from the skies. But usually they are just my punching bags while no other enemies are present.

The whisps are really tough, yeah. Jumping to avoid their attacks is crucial, as well as attacking from the highground or out of their range.

As for getting overwhelmed, I've just felt what it's like with commando. He's really easily rushed as he doesn't have many tools for hitting crowds. Others don't struggle with that as much.

apparently his main strength is being able to proc items way more frequently due to his attacks per second potential.

You can set damage taken to 1/10th and damage dealt to 2x.

Items arn't as important as they seem, what really matters is hitting and activating the teleport at reasonable times. If you're serious about killing providence get to him in ~15 minutes, getting whatever items you're able to scrounge together in the 90 seconds the tele gives you to work with while you kill the boss and normal mobs it spawns. Run around during this time and open the chests you found while looking for the tele, but make sure that you get back to it before the times up, you don't want to waste any time.

commando is imo A tier or higher, his shotgun and beam right click alone make him very versatile and with either of his movement abilities hes a really good character. Something i don't see people say a lot is that Commandos shotgun ability can actually trigger your items for each hit it does since it counts each one as a "pellet" since of course, its a shotgun, and because of this with just a couple of the right items or a good equipment hes able to wipe everything. But you're right, that his other main strong point is his high attack speed which allows him to proc a lot of items.

My friend and I have started doing Monsoon runs and I think a strat that helps a crazy amount is activating teleporter as soon as possible. Kill the boss, and then grab whatever items you can during tele charge, killing some enemies in the process as well. Time is one of your greatest enemies in this game so being fast is crucial.

Indeed, yet sometimes you can... outfast the time a bit too much. :D
I think the enemies on later stages are just statistically superior to the earlier ones, and, without the EXP from shrines, mob kills and all the small capsules, you come there underlevelled and end up underpreforming damagewise, even with some good artifacts.

We actually tend to make it to stage 5 consistently. Frankly, our biggest issue in Monsoon is Blighted elites because those things are probably the scariest enemy in the game.
