play the game how you want, personally i only use drizzle to unlock stuff and when i first started to get used to the game, but no one will judge you if you play on drizzle (at least no one should)advise for normal difficulty is win a run or 2 on drizzle then step up and lose a lot till you dont lose <3

Like many people mentioned I think the best general advice is to try to move areas faster.

  • Start
  • Look around a little bit without really "camping" any chests gathering money for it
  • Activate teleporter when you bump randomly into it
  • Walk back to the chests you noticed before and keep exploring to find new chests
  • Jump away when teleported is charged

Game only gets super hard if you stall too much cuz enemy outscale you but yea no harm playing on Drizzle, I enjoy this game way more on Rainstorm myself I hate speedrunning :ExcitedMiria:

Imo, starting the game on drizzle is only for your benefit. you can unlock pretty much everything by playing in drizzle. I think the only things locked behind the other difficulties is probably skins or something. I dont think theres even an item unlock that requires rainstorm or monsoon.

Fill out that item list, and get you a character that really jives with your jam. Pick up all the artifacts and get as much as you can. Only move up when youre comfortable with the game and got a good setup and feel for how things need to go.
Its a lot like FTL, most people start on easy mode and work their way up.

And dont you dare forget to experiment and play around with all the artifacts and items. Once you get used to them, youll be able to put together some really silly builds, and thats where the real fun begins. Nothing like building a run and then oneshotting Providence three times in a row post 80 minutes on monsoon.

Nah. I'm only now moving onto rainstorm as I've unlocked all the characters and a decent amount of items. Play however you like and don't concern yourself with NPC opinions

Technically yes, since the game expects you to win with Mercenary on Monsoon at some point, and getting the artifact of Origin or doing the Providence Trials is also difficult, and are required for achievements.

I mean there is nothing wrong with playing Drizzle, but RoR2 is more forgiving since Eclipse is purely optional. I suppose you could cheese the hard stuff with 10% damage taken, but the Providence Trials actually require decent skill.

No you're not:happiestmask:, personally i don't feel like i have much trouble playing:rorukulele: on normal, but especially the returns version feels:brainstalks: like a "play like you want and have fun" version of the game so, nothing wrong with doing so imho:lensmakersglasses: glhf guys :hopoofeather:

Play on the difficulty you find fun, imo. People who get judgy about something like that are insecure pricks.

I think there is little reason to feel crap for playing on a difficulty the game actively provides you. Hell they even added the intensity modifiers and if someobdy wants they can make it so they take 10% damage while doing like 200% back. And none of this disables your achievements. I think RoR is super cool franchise for "choose your difficulty" while RoR 1 and 2 can only really be super argued for this with mods (or artifact modifiers could work too I guess) RoRR really just super nice reasonably accessible and lots of fun game.

Played with a friend who never played RoR 1 and after a couple of runs they kept dying often they decided to turn on 50% damage reduction and had much better time overall. I wasn't left alone in most stages and they could actually fend off for themselves much easier. It's so nice I am actually glad they randomly thought of adding all these options.

I thought it was just a victory, and then theres one with 5 victories.

There's one specific item (unfortunately, the best item) that requires beating the game on Monsoon difficulty as Mercenary.

To me, the most important thing to learn on the hardest difficulties is to balance speed with item grabbing. It's really important to try to spend less than 5 minutes per stage, especially on Monsoon, because the difficulty ramps up really really fast. Items aren't suuuuper super important in this game. I mean, they're important, but sometimes you just need to leave them behind because you've spent too much time on a stage.
